I was wondering for the gals on the forum (or whoever wants to answer) if anyone has either tried to play or knew someone who tried to play a Daisy Rock Guitar? I read an article about how they're made more for women and I was thinking down the road of maybe purchasing one. I love my Fender, but it's heavy for me. I'm hoping that if the Daisy's are any good, maybe they'll have ones that are not so girly (I am NOT a girlie girl--skulls and crossbones all around! I'm a bit like Abby from NCIS but an older version LOL)

What do you think?

Thanks.

I'd be curious to know how well these play, myself. I'm planning to pick up a guitar for my daughter in the not-to-distant future (she's only 8 months old right now, so there's still plenty of time! :) ). I'm leaning toward the Squier Hello Kitty Strat, but since there's a decent chance she'll be a lefty (both dad and her maternal grandfather are southpaws), I'd like some other options in case I can't buy a standard right-handed guitar.

I am under the impression that they are "starter" guitars, designed to appeal to young girls and encourage them to start rocking (a beginner level instrument).

I don't know anyone who owns one, nor have I touched one myself.

Yep, that's right. They don't have the best quality. Go to your local music store and just hold a bunch of guitars until one with the perfect weight. Good luck.

They are made by Schecter, and Schecters are good stuff. Someone I know on another forum bought one for his daughter, since they are marketed towards the ladies, but has admitted being scolded by his daughter for borrowing her guitar too much because regardless of how or who its marketed to, its a decent guitar. Though I'm not sure which line he got for his daughter, as I believe there are a couple different lines they offer, and sometimes quality may vary from line to line...

Ah, ignore all that and buy either an ibanez RG or an ibanez JEM. Both are light as hell, insanely comfortable and the sheer versatility and tone of one will blow you away.

Dont even get me started on looks:

Just because they're pointy it doesent mean that they're exclusively for the hard stuff.

Im serious, look at the people who use them, Steve vai, Joe Satriani, omar rodgriguez-lopes, George Benson, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, andy timmons.

A massive variety of players!

Maybe you should look into a semi hollow or chambered bodied electric.

The higher end Daisy Rock Guitars are actually pretty decent. I've played a few that some of my friends have. They have an electric 12 string that's really nice. Some of the Stardust models are good and the Rock Candy Special got an Editors Pick Award from GP. They have guitars for little guitars.

Those look really cool. I've heard that they're light which would be good for my back. How's the neck on them? I have smaller hands unfortunately.

Daisy Rock Guitars are made for girls that have never played and appeals to their feminine sides. I bought my daughter a Lace Huntington. She liked the color (transparent blue) and the weight. It is really light. I did have to replace the tuners, but other than that it plays well and extremely light. Check them out here:

Other than the headstock (too pointy for me) it is an alright guitar. The thing is a little screamer. However, I still like my Fender and Squier Strats better.

Nancy Wilson of Heart has played em' as well as the British band Girlschool. Two others you my have heard of are Dolly Parton and Lisa Loab. They definitely are designed for women, lighter weight, and narrower necks...

I demo'd and purchased an Ibanez JEM 555 a few days before Christmas (available for pick up Jan 12th :x ) and have to agree. They are extremely light weight and versatile guitars. The neck is kind of wide (not sure on the radius, maybe compound 10-16?) but is slim. I have small hands for a guy and can manipulite this neck with ease! If considering and Ibanez I would suggest either the JEM or the RG (550 series and up).

Another option would be a Gibson Vixen. I'm not sure where it falls in terms of weight (Gibbys are notorious for being heavy from the word GO), but may suit your needs size wise.
