I'm past the 4 gallon mark. I used to work in a hospital so it was expected of us. Left healthcare a few years ago, but continue to donate. Plus you get free oreo's. Or if you join the Red Cross Racing Team you accumulate points and get free swag at the end of the year. Besides, if you can it's the right thing to do. Im O neg so they like me.

I just gave again a couple weeks ago, my 46th donation. Two more and I hit the 6 gallon mark. They make us regular donors wait 8 weeks between bloodlettings; BigJay, once a month for a year? Your arms must have looked like pin cushions. I have also found that I am a lot better about keeping on a regular schedule if, rather than filling out the reminder card, I request the courtesy phone call. It is a lot harder to say "No" to a live person than to ignore the card when it comes in the mail.

Once a month? I gave blood ONCE A WEEK for a year. Then once every other week for a year. Then once a month, since.

ONCE A WEEK>>> Yup....the arms were like hamburger. Uncomfortable, but the cookies were good and there was a hot "phlebotomist" who requested draw me each time. She was very hot and very compassionate to my needs.

The truth is, though, that I have found I look forward to giving blood. I think of it as a way to help out, to give back. It feels good and I do recommend it to anybody that can give blood.

Oops...I did mean to say "Once a week."
