I came across a MIJ Strat for sale and the owner states that Fender didn`t have a factory here in America at that time. Is this true ? Thanks in advance for any info....

I can't vouch for its accuracy, but this article says Fender Japan started in 1982.

IIRC Fender shut it's doors in '85 while they regrouped after the CBS sale. The factory was not included in the sale and they had tp set up shop in Corona. I know I'm missing some details though so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
