Thank you so much for the compliments! Coming from folks here on a Fender forum really mean a lot to me.

What's funny is, for a time before I started the tribute in 2002, I didn't really care for Strats. Then, when I got one to practice on, it just felt right.

The one I'm using now is one that's really special. I ordered it from Manny's Music in 2005 (since that's where Buddy got at least one of his Strats), and due to Manny's missing the UPS guy, it got to me a day later than estimated, and I got it on February 3, 2005, the anniversary of Buddy's death.

GG - the guitar Stu is using is one he loves playing live, his Epiphone WildKat. The P-90s in that sound really good. Since the band also does Rockabilly shows in general, that guitar lends itself to the whole period of music being played.

straycat - I didn't realize that's when I dropped my pick until I saw it again on YouTube. That's the advantage of me putting the extra pick in the pickguard to model Buddy's preference for that!

I'm really glad to be here and active in posting, and looking forward to all of this!

Ed

Yeah, man, really good. I actually watched the whole video which I almost never do. One thing, though, I went to see a couple other of your videos ... and you were not in the band (they are good as a trio, too). Did they add you just because of the Buddy Holly thing?

Yeah, they do a few different kind of shows, one being a Buddy Holly show, and sometimes I'm put in to do the middle of a regular Rockabilly show with them.

I ended up paired with them to perform a show in Rehoboth Beach at the Convention Center there (it was some fellow who did Elvis, and his manager knew me and the band, so he asked if we could do the show together), it worked beautifully, and we stayed with it!

The amazing thing is, we've only been playing together since April, 2009! It's just that we know the music well enough and the chemistry just works that it sounds and works so well.

.........that's why one tucked a pick under the pickguard in that convenient position....you picked it up on the downstroke.

Well, apart from my first real post out here ending up in the wrong forum (my mistake!), I think I found the right spot for this one.

Here I am, as Buddy Holly with my band, doing one of our Holly tribute shows.

Hope you like it!
