So no one has made a big plan for running away? Hm, bit strange.
Realy, it wasn't fun at all at the time but now when we look back on it, one of the funniest things we've ever done!

Good story lad, I enjoyed the shenanigans and there is probably a decent song in there somewhere

The porn mag got taken of us (damn....).

Now the odyssey of that magazine is something I'm interested in. 8). That's what we, in the States, would call 'the rest of the story."

took me awhile to post this as I had to ask my Sister about this day to see if she would remember and all she could remember is that my Mom and Aunt were on the telephone talking and giggling after I had left. Mom and Aunt were just lovely grown up girls to me. Always a beautiful smile and quick to laugh at something funny. not afraid to get physical playing softball or badminton, attractive still even when playing, just like all girls just grown up. My Dad and Uncle were lucky (and they knew it) to have such wonderful life partners and Mothers for their children. Anyway here is my running away memory.
It was our family's annual summer vacation, I think around Independence Day I was maybe 6 or 7 and we were staying at my Aunt and Uncles home in a very small town in NE Wisconsin of maybe 100 people (most of them Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends of the family, every one knew every one it was such a warm loving atmosphere, I really loved those vacations there). On this day I was being a bit loud banging on my Silvertone acoustic bouncing around the living room. My Dad and Uncle were working on a car or two in the garage and Mom and Aunt were busy in the kitchen when Mom came to me and said that I should stop for awhile put the guitar down and maybe it would be nice if I would go and play with my Sister. I wasn't really myself that day, maybe a little over excited because at that time of year there was a festival that coincided with harvest of the sweet pea crop, called, the pea festival, in a larger town nearby. We had gone to the parade the day before but tonight everyone was hinting that we might visit the circus, set up just outside of the town in celebration of the pea festival on the festival days. I loved the circus, not the clowns, but the high wire and trapeze artists, acrobats, elephants lions tigers, truly the stuff of little boys dreams. were was I? oh yes! My Mom asked if I would go play with my Sister and I looked at my Mom and Aunt and said to them something like I wanted to do what I wanted (being stubborn) and if not I announced that I would run away. Mom and Aunt looked at me curiously and asked what would I do if I ran away and I said "I'll be a hobo" and then I asked if they would help me get ready to leave. Those two lovely grown up girls played right along and together we found a big table napkin and an old broom handle. We began to pack what I thought that I might need in the big napkin: an extra pair of gym shoes (hobo's do a lot of walking I thought) a tee shirt, an extra pair of socks which I wasn't sure about, but, "even hobo's have to change their socks sometimes" said Mom. So I agreed and we tied the big napkin to the broom handle, I hoisted it to my shoulder and out the front door I went with Mom and Aunt following waving goodbye as I walked up the old country road away from my Aunt and Uncles home. As I was walking (feeling pretty independent for the moment) it seemed like all of my cousins and family friends were driving by in their pickup trucks, tractors, even a couple on horseback waving and I was waving back and shouting hello to everyone. I was walking and waving along that old country road for quite awhile, it seemed like miles (really just about a mile and a half) and I looked over, I was right in front of my cousin Nicky's parents farm (another Aunt and Uncle) and right out front was Nicky with his Mom waving for me to come in to have lunch. It felt like lunch time and I remember this Aunt saying it may be a good idea for me to stop and have lunch before I continued my hobo-ing (how did she know my plan? was it the napkin and broom handle? see the start of this post). That mile and a half walk made me hungry because I remember eating a whole sandwich instead of my usual half and a big piece of this Aunts home made apple pie (my Mom and Aunts were such good cooks, I'm getting hungry while typing this) and then washing it down with a big boy size glass of milk. Now, with a full stomach and a taste of the road I began to think of a way to change my mind and go back home without revealing that I may have been a bit hasty in my decision to run away. Then inspiration struck, I would tell my Mom and Aunt that I thought Mom and Dad might need my help as they were getting on in years ( were I learned that I can't remember, probably a tv show, but like all children my mind was a sponge). So I kissed and hugged my Aunt (cousin Nicky's Mom) and thanked her for lunch, said goodbye to Nicky hoisted my hobo stick up to my shoulder and began my walk down that old country road to my Aunt and Uncles house. As I approached the house I saw my Mom and Aunt were in front shelling some bushels of sweet pea's (harvest time, pea festival, you remember) and when they looked up and saw me standing there, my Mom asked why I was "back so soon" and I expressed my concern that because of her and Dads' advancing age they may be needing my help at home. My Mom, smiling (my Aunt was too), said that she appreciated my concern and speedy return and would I go and play with my Sister in the back yard until dinner time after which we would indeed go to the circus. I was so happy with my new decision as before I wasn't thinking how much I loved my family and would have missed them if I continued being a hobo. I thank God for all of the parents that are patient and loving of their children. Which makes me think that, some times, young people from loving family's think of running away if only to get a little extra attention. Thank you Mom and Dad and all Moms and Dads that love and nurture their children even when they are being stubborn.

The slides a boss turbo overdrive straight into the desk. The rhythm guitars my old white MIM strat into a marshall then my cheapo jackson dinky into the studios mesa rectifier.
Theres also a track on there where the amp was in one booth maxed out, the mikes were in the other booths. The booths are soundproofed so you get this muted sound with a funny delay on it out of sync to the amp booth as you go down the booths.

Halycon days. I miss em.

i ran away once. i was like 18 or something. life sucked from many bad aspects (i wont go into that now...). things had been brewing for a while and one night everything exploded and fell apart and came to a breaking point so i thought F**k this i cant take this anymore and just left. no shoes, no wallet, no food, no money, nothing. i walked north for 2 days straight, in the cold, rain, slept under someones house, blistered feet, no idea where i was going - i was just going. then everything calmed down i asked someone gardening if i could use thier phone and then i called someone to pick me up.

not a good place in space and time
but it didn't kill me and now im stranger and wiser
mleh...
at least life isn't boring ;)
