Ok this is a little late, but I haven't had a chance to look at it until today. I did get something guitar related for Christmas. It was a gift from my mother-in-law. It is an instructional book called Totally Interactive Guitar Bible. Here is what it looks like:

http://www.amazon.com/Totally-Interacti ... 456&sr=8-1

It is a great tool for the beginning guitarist. It has a little book in it that has a small bio from the major guitar companies like Fender, ESP, Gibson, and Danelectro just to name a few. It also has a DVD on what some different guitars sound like. There is also an interactive CD ROM on beginning to play. Practice techniques, riffs, and exercises for the young/starting guitarist. (I guess she thinks I need to expand my playing style, but a cool gift none the less).

I have already seen some of the other gifts received from our fellow forumites. Guitars, amps, and gear but I thought I would share this with everyone as well. Considering I did not think I was getting anything guitar related from my family, this was a genuine surprise.

I got that same book a while back and it has been just sitting on the shelf. Guess I'll have to break it out and check it out in detail.

Like I said something good for the beginner. The DVD goes through some of the major brands and what they were going for when they designed them. The CD is pretty basic for starting out as a guitarist. I have seen better guitar facts book, but its pretty good for the beginner. Like I said a nice gift from someone for whom I would not have expected one from.
