Well, I do. I would like to know how they make their music so massive and pretty sounding.

I especially want to know how they make their howling kind of spooky sounding tremolo picking amidst their musical explosions.

i think they use like a reverb pedal, some delay, and maybe a chorus pedal. I was hoping someone here would have a more descript idea of what they might be using.

here is an example: it is a song by a band called pg.lost called Yes I am

Nice sound!

They have a U2 euro sound. Go to Line6.com and start searching around for an effects board. Then shop around for the best price on one that can download patches (any brand). This will give you a base point to tweek with and get the sound you want.

You are on the right track with reverb and delay and most important chorus but they are also getting distortion/feedback from a very special amp which you will have to figure out using pedals.

Good luck, hope you nail it.

A lot has to do with the arrangement and structure of the music which is very visual. It is almost as if it is a filmscore. Next listen just try and picture scenes from a move and you will get what I mean. Very good.

This device has some pretty wild sounding patches and effects :

This is an instrumental song that I played with it on a collaboration with some people from Southern Brazil. Zozimo was the one who recommended I try this device. He and his wife, Adrianne, use it for live shows (no amps).

The three of us are using one on this track :

boonis,
Great tune...man I hear a ton of different influences...Rush, U2, Genesis, too many to name...I love how they have mad a huge soundscape with which to work and just let your mind flow. Thanks for bringing this one up...I will try and analyze more to help you out! :D

I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood the OP's question, so I removed my song links.

The YT clip sounds to be using a lot of LFO-type signals and triggers (low frequenct oscillators) and has a distinct poly synth pad sound that weaves in and around. Vey nice!

Here is another great use of synths :

What does "post rock" mean? What do you mean by that?
English is not my mother tongue, so maybe I misunderstood. Sorry if that's the case. I didn't realize there was such a thing as "post rock".

It's a genre that's been around for at least 20 years.

I love it, though I need to get some more of it. All I have right now is Slint's "Spiderland" and Godspeed You, Black Emperor!'s "Yanqui U.X.O.", and I've also been meaning to check out Mogwai. Spiderland is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.

I had not heard that term before either and English is my first language. However, it sounds a lot to me like soundscape music which has been going on for a whole lot more than the past 20 years by the band that invented and perfected the soundscape.

The mighty and venerable Pink Floyd.
