I would have to say that since I've only been playing for a year and a half and even I can play most green day songs technically there's probably not much there. That said I have to say that the fact that they put out album after album and have a huge following with this skill set is pretty cool. Not everyone can be EVH, SRV or Hendrix but real rock music usually has a simple base. I'm not a fan by any means, I don't even own one album but they play fun rock music and it's not like they pretend to be serious artists who are above everyone either. I have zero problem with Green Day.

I enjoyed the first 3 albums very much. After dookie it began to go down hill, in my opinion. I still respect them quiet alot. Friends of mine saw them in \Dublin recently and were very eager to report that it was one of the best shows they had seen.
