No. I hate them all.

I dig Greenday. I have very wide ranging tastes in music and I don't look for things not to like.

I will make judgments based on my taste, but I don't hate on artists even if I think their stuff is crap. If someone is making a living doing what they love, I say more power to 'em.

I do like the sound of the song "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"...

It would be nice if the most skilled artists got the most recognition, but that just ain't how it works.

I've been posting here a while and know of NO fans of either of those moaners.

Where did you 'observe' this?

Most people who post here are 25 -70 years old and young guys like Stryder and Tochai seem to have decent taste. I can't recall anyone liking those bands. Just mostly the greats.

Good points all around.
Armstrong's guitar playing is certainly not virtuoso material but I like it that way. Good rhythm guitar is harder to play than people think. Or maybe it just takes more stamina to get through a set of down-strummed power chords. Besides, I don't like guitar virtuosos. The majority of the time they're just some bozo that, while technically proficient, spends his time sweeping cheesy arpeggios all over the fretboard. A player like Armstrong reminds me that I can still put together a song without a bunch of useless notes on the upper register.
Personally, I'm glad that we don't all have the same musical taste. If everyone had my taste, I couldn't go anywhere without hearing Black Flag or G.G. Allin or Scars on Broadway or something... and that would ruin them for me.
And if I were Billie Joe Armstrong, I'd just sit back and think, "Hate me all you want, boys. I'm loaded with cash and I can have anything that I want."

I don't think anyone hates the guy. Just not most of our cups of tea.

My favourite guitarist of all time is a rhythm player, Izzy Stradlin. I just prefer what he does cos he knows what up-strokes are as well.

As I stated, it's a regional observation. My local area. People-from-surrounding-towns-and-my-job type of thing. It gives you an idea of how $@!&#* my locale is.

I didn't specifically mean Armstrong, I meant that a lot of people love to dump on certain guys... It's all good though because people have a lot of passion about music. You've got to love the John Mayer threads around here LOL

Ha ha, I really do love those, the Cobain ones too. It's true, the reason we are all here is cos we love music so passionately. A heated debate is good for the soul as long as it stays debate and not insult then why not. I'm sure many guys here 'hate' many of my favourite bands too. Nothing wrong with that at all.

It would be a crappy old world if we were all the same.

Well heres a curveball. I happen to be a fan of the band. I really think BJA is a good writer and they get my fist pumping when I hear them. I have only liked three punk bands ever The Ramones, The Clash and them. I own Dookie and American Idiot and really like both albums. Not everything has to be virtuoso rocket science and the guy is a damn good rhythm player and who would think a punk band would lay down one of the greatest Bass lines ever recorded-Longview.

Sometimes I just get in that mood for some fun music and pull out the Ramones and blast some classics like The KKK Took my Baby Away or Blitzkrieg Bop and all seems fine.lol

Exactly bro. Each to their own! Longview bassline is great too.
