I was wondering, what website has the best (most accurate) tab for Stevie Ray Vaughan songs and solos?

There is plenty to be found with so many Stevie Ray wannabes, just look at Barnes Noble site. Probably ten books with tabs there alone.

I think you might like going the way ripitup suggested and try the Greg Koch DVD. Greg is a excellent musician and teacher and one of the funniest guys you will ever see.

Just a suggestion but the best way to approach Stevies songs is to get the right chord voicings and correct feel for his rhythm playing which is way harder to play correct than people think as he has total control over every string and is a master at muting with both hands. Even a song like Pride and Joy which looks so simple is very hard to get the rhythm right as he is hitting all six strings as he plays the riff.

I would also say to pick out the licks you like and then improvise on the solos and watch a lot of live stuff for those great improvised licks. There is nothing wrong with studying and stealing from your favorite players as we all have done it. But there comes a time when you have to move on and form your own style or else you just become a clone.

Most music stores carry at least one SRV tab book. Free tabs on the internet are not usually reliable. Who wants to tab out a five minute long song of something as complicated as SRV and not get paid for it? They make some tab books which have the hits from every record, which is probably a good place to start.

Exactly. Even Stevie himself stole licks that he liked from his favorite guitar players. Eventually you'll get good enough to mix licks and styles until you come up with your own. :)

Yeah, I agree that tab books would be more accurate and useful than online tab. Next time I'm at my bookstore or music store I'll take a look around!

Thanks for your suggestions and help everybody!

+1 on the recommendation for the Stevie Snacks website. Anthony Stauffer (who makes the occasional appearance on this forum) does an excellent job teaching blues guitar in SRV style. 8)

Yesterday I got the music book for SRV's CD "In Step". It's from "Recorded Versions Guitar" (transcribed by Jesse Gress). It looks pretty accurate and I tried playing some and it sounded correct! :D
