ok i know this should be in the acoustic section but noone ever looks there and it's kinda important.

my epi acoustic's action was twice as high as a normal guitars and it was so hard to play, my fingertips were getting purple with bruises. i tried to move the truss rod to adjust it and it wouldn't budge (and i'm pretty strong). so i tried sanding the bridge and i only did it a VERY small amount and now the action is stilll too high and it buzzes like holy h@#$. and the strings are always breaking and i even put graphite in the nut! i was looking up truss rods and mine might broken. to fix a truss rod it costs 400+ dollars to fix and the guitar is only 100. what do you think is wrong/ what can i do?! THANK YOU FOR ANY RESPONSES!!!!! I guess i'll never be buying any overseas/ epi guitars.!

Normally an acoustics action is pretty much higher than an electrics and in some cases might be harder to play.

If the trussrod will not turn at all (tighten or loosen), it's most likely the threads in there have cross-threaded causing it to bind up. It's probably due to the low quality. I wouldn't expect much out of a $100 dollar guitar to begin with. But I don't really have anything against epiphone, they actually give you exactly what you pay for. Usually when a trussrod breaks or whatever, the thing will just turn freely, sometimes you might even be able to hear it rattling around in the neck.

I have a cheap acoustic I found at a pawn shop one time, I wasn't expecting anymore than the 30 bucks I paid for it, mainly an electric player, just wanted something to fill my acoustic urges every once in awhile. The truss rod was broke in it (turns freely), and I knew this before I bought it (I could hear the damn thing rattling around inside), but I didn't care, the neck was straight and I figured I could bigger strings on it to make it bow a little and come into my best action preference (high action, bigger strings).

If it's not even playable for you anymore, my advice is to not even worry about fixing it. Just count it as a loss and get you another one.

ya i don't really have anything against epi, i'm just a little mad. and the action is very high even by acoustic standards. well at least now i have a legit reason to save up for that gibby acoustic. well if i decide to start gigging and there's one where i have an opportunity to smash a guitar i know what one i'll use. just out of curiosity how much does it cost to fix the bind problem?

That's exactly what I would I do. Except I would probably set mine on fire.

Depending on "what" the problem really is, the fingerboard will need to come off regardless, it could be well into the hundreds. Depends especially on "who" you take it to be fixed. With all the work that has to be done to fix it, you'll be paying nothing but labor and that can get high. It also depends on how fancy the guitar is, neck binding will be something that has to be tackled, refinishing and all that stuff, it just creates more work. With expensive guitars, this stuff can be fragile. To be honest, they probably won't even want to waste their time with cheap instruments. Usually only instruments of value are worth this fix.

^ thats what i figured but i thought i'd ask anyway. Now all i have to say to the guitar is BURN BABY BURN... lol

sh$t now i have to come up with 1700 or so for a new acoustic because i don't think i'm buying any guitars from china/ that area. I don't have anything against them, it's just i'm going to have a slight phobia of guitars that were not made in north america or maybe the u.k.
