As everyone else knows here, I am a quarter American and proud and lived in NYC for years.

Don't you actually READ the posts. And I would never be anti-American. I'm just pointing out statistics. We dont have legal firearms and we have a rather large Asian community in the U.K.

I also pointed out I am not from Ireland so the bomb jokes dont fly with me. Maybe they will with the other Irish members who lost family members in the troubles.

Just the type of thread that keeps me away from this place  I'm an American who has lived in Europe, for a good number of years now. In all that time I've been shown nothing but respect, from people in various coutries I've lived/visited. I sugest you take a long look at yourself Museseek, and try to be a bit more polite. Most Europeans I've met could give you a lesson in manners, and a bit of humilty. Ohhh and you may want to look at WW11 a bit more in depth my friend. It was a combined force thet defeated the nazi's, not just the US forces.

I apologise to the good people here for my rant, I truely am sorry. And CC you show remarkable restraint, I doth my cap buddy.

All I can say is... "Wow!"

This thread sure took a sour turn in a hurry over a simple question. Oh well my good people. You all have a Joyous Holiday Season and a Merry Christmas if that is your celebration!

Wow! Leave for an hour and look what happens.
I hope nobody thought I was out of line. I just tried to answer the OP with what I thought were relevant reasons for limiting contests to one region. That's all. If it were up to me, all of my friends on here would be eligible to enter, but it's not so... Happy Holidays, and try to relax a bit...

I'm grand guys. I just think Snowy and myself being an American/Brit and a Brit/American got wildly offended.

As I said, some dude just wanted to enter a competition. lol

Peace and love guys and Happy Holidays.

Where are you from and what is your country doing for the world?

What the hell kind of question is that? What does the OP's greivance have to do with how his country performs?

Before you go asking those questions you ought take a look at the way alot of the world views the USA. Ask yourself, why does half the 3rd world want to blow you up?

haha Nicely said. That is so true.

I have Emailed a lot of companies about this same topic, asking why Canadians as the close neighbour of the US are exempt from contests and all have told me their hands are tied with regard to international participation. The gaming laws in the US and most countries are usually very different and the import/export rules of different countries are so variable it would be impossible to comply to any. However some did say that try to promote contests run out of other countries through the auspices of their international agents.

Absolutely and also the commercial rules in general. I work for a company that pays movie and TV talent and we'd be happy to pay anyone anywhere. There are no US laws that prohibit that, but many of the countries of the world do either effectively or outright. Foreign trade is a very complex and expensive matter to set up, even just for a one-off event in one country.

Even those countries that don't outright ban US business may require that the company have a presence in their country and even that their division there be 51% or more owned by nationals of that country. As mentioned, duties and fees can be quite high and/or very complicated too.

Based on my experience (in my industry), you'd be better off contacting the distributor for your country. They'd be the ones who're in compliance with local law and customs and it would probably be infinitely easier for them to sponsor a contest. They might do it on behalf of Fender or in other countries may have to represent the contest as being strictly a local offer.
