Fender make awesome instruments, but as a company, they suck when it comes to anyone outside of the US. over the last few months all competitions are only open to US residents .

Example: Dinosaur Jr competition and Jimi Hendrix Am Std Strat sweepstakes.

Whats with this fender? you are a global company, why discriminate against anyone outside the US?

The US is not the only country in the world weather you think it or not, and the sooner you realize that, the better. I judge a company on many things, its products, support, and treatment of customers, and right now, Fender, you are ailing in your customer treatment dept.

I think taxes and import duties may have more to do with it than Fender just not wanting to include you or other countries in a contest. It's not quite as easy as just giving something away, there are various laws and regulations around the world that have to be taken into consideration too.

Bingo! That's exactly why. You'll find very few legitimate contests from the U.S. opened to other countries. Don't hate the companies, it's the laws that should change.

I'm so tired of this attitude that you should boycott everything U.S. . Especially the forums. Most Americans understand the world very well but thats because we have a great education system. And if you think we are smitten about being the great country that we are, you're wrong. We are just gratefull and happy, happy that our society isn't run by pagan belief systems. We try very hard and are sucessfull as a result. I'm glad that this is a USA only contest and you can cry all you want because it's just too bad. I don't have to take your crap. Go to hell. You smelly backwards loser. USA is great. If you immigrated here you would know it, but please don't. Last thing we need is some fool running around saying how great it is to be American (when he obviously just arrived).

You know as I proofread this I'm not sure my point gets across. So I'll add this. I wish, wish, wish our government would severe all foreign policy and affairs. I'm sick of poor and undereducated and under industrialised countries needing stuff from us, even church donated stuff like food. If you can't grow it or make it then you shouldn't have it. Too bad. I have an idea..... why don't you just take my money and livelyhood because those pieces of sh*t in Washington think it's what is necessary. We need to run this place a little more strictly.

What the hell kind of question is that? What does the OP's greivance have to do with how his country performs?

Before you go asking those questions you ought take a look at the way alot of the world views the USA. Ask yourself, why does half the 3rd world want to blow you up?

+1 on Niki. I am a quarter American and proud but it is a fair point Niki has made as first and foremost I am British.

The OP is pissed off with not being able to enter competitions and I agree with him. Guys like myself, Ceri, Niki and others can't enter them either and it isn't fair.

Get yer head out of your asses guys and stop being so #$@*&!% defensive. The guy just wanted to win a damn t-shirt or something.

[EDIT] And gomania16...you are a d1ck. Ever heard of Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Australia, Canada, Japan.....etc?

I think they are doin fine and have been for a LONG time.

Because he came in here criticizing my country. If he wants to play that game, he should disclose where he's from and what his country is doing for the world. No country gives more to the world than the USA.

Hey, we respect our British friends, but let's face it ... you and the French would flying swastikas if it wasn't for American blood and American money.

You're welcome.

Only an uneducated idiot comes to a guitar forum and calls others uneducated idiots. Get a life and grow up.

I have Emailed a lot of companies about this same topic, asking why Canadians as the close neighbour of the US are exempt from contests and all have told me their hands are tied with regard to international participation. The gaming laws in the US and most countries are usually very different and the import/export rules of different countries are so variable it would be impossible to comply to any. However some did say that try to promote contests run out of other countries through the auspices of their international agents.

You may have grown up physically, but clearly not emotionally.

Perhaps if you could comprehend what you read, the fellow whining about not being eligible for a Fender contest is completely ignorant when it comes to laws relative to import/export, taxes, international gaming, etc. ... as are you.

Then, to make matters worse, he accuses Americans of being isolationist and selfish -- and history shows nothing further from the truth.

Hey, drunkard, did you folks settle those religious difference yet or are you still bombing and shooting each other on the streets?

Racism? LOL! Isn't your country 99.9% Caucasian?

Go ahead, I've already reported you for flaming and anti-Americanism. Now go have a pint and build a bomb.
