Merry Christmas all!

One thought, as we end 2009 with pretty dark days everywhere -- we as humanity have pulled through as bad before. No matter what our particular faith, if we work together, believe in each other and remember that we're all in the same boat, we can do it again.

My Christmas wish for you, my friends
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun

I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer

May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought

May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold

I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friends
And a Happy and healthy New Year, too!

When I read the thread title - My first thoughts were;

"Remember the reason for the season"

Then I started reading the individual posts.

Mike and those that posted similar posts - you brought tears to this old mans eyes.

Love is what it's all about - isn't it. :D

To me as a child, Christmas for both its religious and secular aspects was always the most wonderful time of the year. We used to have huge parties at my house; cherished relatives, neighbors and friends aplenty and of course, my parents and my brothers.

The neighborhood, our whole town, the streets and houses all lit up, left no doubt of the ubiquitous joy of the season. Every so often, a horse drawn sleigh with obligatory bells would pass you by with the occupants smiling and waving and we reciprocating like we knew each other all our lives. You could always hear the carols and songs anywhere and everywhere yet somehow you never tired of them. People in general were a bit nicer and a bit happier too. And there was always the hope of a White Christmas! Of course, there was the anticipation of would we be getting THAT one present we wanted more than anything else in the world under the tree come Christmas Morning? I couldn't get enough of the season and yet, it was always over in a flash.

If there was such a thing as a, "Christmas Wish", mine would be to return on Christmas Eve morning to my childhood home with all the conditions as above and stay through Christmas Day evening. If I couldn't be that quasi-mesmerized child experiencing it once again, being an invisible spirit merely seeing it all again would surely do.

First off, many many thanks to Mike and others for a beautiful post and some heartfelt thoughts.

Because I'am a Christian, I thank God Almighty for the BEST gift ever - Jesus Christ. I'm also thankful for my wife, 2 daughters and my quite large family. I think back to when I was a child and the magic I felt at this time of the year. I feel sad my parents and grandparents never got to see my kids, but know that they would have adored them. I will be eternally grateful to my parents and grandparents for everything they did and smile when I think back to our Christmas' together. I hope EVERYONE can find some peace, joy and love in this crazy world we find ourselves.
