so it seems we loungers bash recent music all the time b/c it sucks. but, i know some of you have some albums you like from '09 so lets hear 'em. What was your favorite album this year? One album, it could greatest hits or a re-release, but it has to be from this year. Mine was:

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends by Coldplay

awesome album, one of the albums you can listen to all the way through (even modern stations destroyed Viva La Vida) one of my favorite albums.

I'd have to say the Beatles remastered set.Although I have everything they recorded on vinyl and CD the new mix brings each instrument and vocal track to the fore.It makes it much easier to decipher the leads and pick out their impeccable harmonies.

Obviously one of my favs was Sonic Boom/KISS. All the merchandising and Simmons' antics aside, they did manage to go back to the classic KISS song and put out an album of material that even the critics thought deserved some praise.

But the surprise release I liked this year was Buckcherry's Black Butterfly, I got it after I saw them live opening for KISS. Would have never considered it except for their live show.

My biggest gripe with new music is it all sounds the same. Back in "the day" when I bought the most music it seems there was more variety, ABBA, KISS, Alice Cooper, Fleetwood Mac and Billy Joel would all be on the charts and on sale as "current" releases. All of which are still in my favorites.

When I heard Pearl Jam had a new album coming out, I honestly didn't expect much. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan and have been since the first album. I didn't think they could top the last album, nevermind the earlier stuff. Back Spacer is my choice for 2009, probably 2010 too  A fantastic collection of tunes, well worked, well produced, and rockin the house down stuff. Viva the Jammers 8)
