I'm just curious. And how much money do you get on average for doing it?
I haven't busked yet, but I was wondering if you can take your electric guitar down the street, plug it in somewhere and your off. All of the people I've seen busking use acoustic's, on electrics.

There's a guy that hangs out in a shopping center not far from me that does that. He has a really nice American Telecaster that he plays thru one of those small battery powered amps that he carries in a backpack. I see him there often, but not so much lately. The Salvation Army took his spot for the holiday season it seems.

There is a few members here that I have heard talk of doing so. One recently in the Tube on the other side of the pond.

lol, Cvil, I presume you are talkin bout moi?? 8)

I'm just back from my 4th busk in the last 9 days and again I earned a good amount. £76.82 to be exact for playing the same 10 songs for 2 and a half hours.

It was good fun although the good humour and good craic was equal to the abuse I took. But I'm a big boy. Water off a drunk ducks back.

I used to busk all the time beside a liquor store near where i lived when i was 19 or 20. used to make a ton of cash. Busking can be fun, and a good way to hone your chops.

I've always wanted to busk, but I have never gotten around to it because I'm always turned off by the permit you have to get.

....

You DO have to get a permit before you go out and busk, right?

From all that I've read, it all says, yes, you do need a permit.
But from what I've read here, it sounds like you all just went out and started playing!! :P

Haha, I never knew this was called "busking"!

Anyway, I've never done this, but it would definitely be fun to do in the future sometime!

You need one here, I imagine most larger centers have policies, but i'm not sure that every town has laws or regulations. I have no idea what the restrictions are in the city i used to busk in when i was younger. I never thought about it. My friend and i that used to jam/busk asked the store manager if he was cool with us busking in the parking lot, but we never looked into any kind of permit, and we never got into any trouble.

Yes, from what I just researched, in New Jersey where I want to busk, it seems that you need to get a permit if you play through any kind of sound amplification system. I've always just wanted to go out and play my acoustic, though, so the permit thing most likely won't be a problem.

Now I just need to work up the courage to go out and actually do it. With me being a fourteen year-old girl, I'm scared *beep*less that I'll get mugged or something.
It happens to a lot of people, so, I'm worried....
