Post subject: wood grain on sunburst guitars/ basses

How does that work? fender pick out the best woodgrains for the sunburst models? chance one wether or not you get a nice one?

Yes, they try to pick the best wood for the finishes that are going to show the grain. Also worth noting is that sunburst MIM's have laminate tops do to the multi-piece bodies.

YZF Joe- What about made in Japan? Laminated?
I've got a Tele made there, 2 color sunburst, that's beautiful. I hate to think
they bombed Pearl Harbor, then laminated my Telecaster.

I don't know about those Taurus. Sorry. There are a few people on here that seem to be very knowledgeable on CIJ/MIJ guitars though. maybe one of them will have that answer for you.
