so on the HD music channel Palladia i was able to watch the Strat Pack concert for the first time, and i gotta say, im glad i didnt buy it. Some of the performances were awesome. others, well i didnt like. Does anybody know why Clapton or KWS or Townshend or any other of the notable Strat players were not there? it struck me as weird.

Sorry I can't agree. I own it, and enjoy watching it over and over again. Reasons for not including certain artists could range over a host of business or contractual issues. I don't see any issues with respect to the choices they made and, with all due respect to your preferences, the only one of the three artists you mention who holds a classic place with respect to the Stratocaster is Clapton. Townsend did not make use of that guitar in his early works. KWS, IMHO, has not yet made his bones to the extent yet, to be ranked with the artists who performed in that concert. Haven't learned of anything current from him in quite some time.

I liked some of it. For me the best part was when David Gilmour went up. His performance was amazing, especially when he played marooned.

I was quite disappointed in the way it was broadcast on tv. I did not see it on the HD channel but VH1C showed it last night. There was a lot of stuff cut out..they even edited Gary Moore’s performance and cut 60ish percent out of his song, they showed the intro and cut and paste it right up to the solo…I understand that version of Red House is long but no longer than other artists doing 2 songs between commercials. I guess I’m left with you tube unless I can find this show on DVD because VH1C sucks because their a slave to their advertisers Just like every other network. Tv used to be about entertainment but now that corporations own everything and run more ads than programming it’s their game and as long as you’re buying Big Mac’s and cell phones (etc) they could give a crap if your entertained. ….anyway off my soapbox….what the network did not cut or screw up was a great performance and enjoyable….I had forgotten just how good of a singer Paul Rodgers was ,as I have not heard anything since Bad Co.

The DVD is really quite good.

i agree, some of the choices were good but some i skipped right over, mainly Amy Winehouse and Ronnie Wood (Wood for the mere fact that his voice sounded horrible). Others like Hank Marvin (who i had never heard of) got me interested to check out some of their music. But i would prob give the movie a 5 out of 10. Gilmour's performance was amazing.

as much as i hate winehouse, i'm trying to find the second song they played at the show. really cool jazz tune. it isn't on the DVD. the only one on the disc is "stronger than me". im looking for the one they did before that. it can be seen on the version shown on Palladia. damn this house for not having DVR.

i'm having a hell of a time searching, but i guess all the fat cats with their money hunger kept it off youtube. anybody know the title of the song by some chance?

I thought it was pretty good.

My dad (Loves all those musicians, but doesn't know much when it comes to guitars... ) walked down while I was watching it and said "hey! thats your guitar right there."

I think it reassured him that my strat was a good investment. :)
