I've got a shoulder thats bone on bone and I am having my 3rd epidural on
my L5 this week. Last night, in bed, I woke up feeling like an animal crushed on the highway. It's like having an icepick in one's consciousness
a lot of the time. Other days, it's not so bad.

I'm able to work, remodel my house, work-out, etc. I'm covered by insurance, but I want to finish my house before doing my shoulder.
They're talking laser surgery on the L5, so no rehab.
I got a bottle of Vicodin I dont take 'cause:

1. It' a narcotic
2. It makes it hard to hoist the main sail should the GF come by
3. I'd rather curse the darkness than light a candle

Thirty years of construction , plus taking a few falls have got me here.
There's a blues song in there somewhere.

Any other forum-ites living in pain, physical, emotional, spiritual??
How did you resolve it? What are you planning to do about it?

Had both my shoulders done about six months apart.Diving off 70 ft cliffs, motorcycle wrecks and thirty years building jets and custom kitchen cabinets took their toll. I feel great now...... 8) Mike

20 years in the Military have left me with the knees of a 70 year old in a 41 year old body…I just deal with it until I can’t any more

5 surgeries on my right foot after a motorcycle accident in 1979 almost took my foot completely off. I am left with about 60% mobility.
1 surgery on my left foot after a fall from a ladder split my foot. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th toes are fused at the joint above the metatarsil (sp) and I have 2 plates and 11 screws holding it together.
I walk with a cane and my knees, hips, and back have suffered from these injuries.

I am in constant pain, but have built up a high tolerance to it over the years. What is level 1 pain to me is about level 9 or 10 pain for others. I do not take pain meds.

Many of you have seen my posts on my other health issues and realize these are just the tip of the iceberg.

emotional yes, i am really low, probably as low as I have ever been in my life and there seems to be no light in sight or no way up out of this hole. i've got a bad case of the blues and I am talking the Son House death letter style blues, minus the whiskey and corn liquor. i really have no clue how i am going to resolve it to be honest with you.

but my apologies for even bringing it up because Chet I know you have been through a lot lately and my little depression battles are nothing compared to that, I just noticed you mentioned "emotional" pain and I have a lot of that.

Hope you feel better soon man! 8)

I have my share of aches and have taken my share of pain meds. Years of rigging and tower work have done there share. Broken back with months of traction many broken fingers one tip sewed back on. Dislocated shoulder twice with a bad tear they say I should have repaired. Was ship home from overseas job with a bad staph infection caused all kinds of problems. Shot once had 4 surgeries.

Chet- I had no idea, man. Motorcycles, they look like fun but... One of my customers gave me a motorcycle. I'd get all wired on espresso and ride all over L.A. But it's dangerous. People come after you. Once a guy crossed over the double yellow line, headed at me. When he passed, I saw he had a woman and child in the car!!! Great lesson for the kid.
Do you still ride Chet?

BlackCat Bone- What will make this pass? What can I do? I should be depressed, too. But I'm too stupid to be depressed. Can I help, somehow?

Cvilleira- Shot. Wow. Villeira sounds Portugese. Was it in Rio? Over a woman, maybe? Glad you survived.

No woman involved just a bad time in the wrong place and not the only time either but hit only once. The middle east and the streets of Baltimore. See My pics like on the first page of the fender T-shirt contest you will see the scar on the right side of my face Jaw and neck area. Thing aches like hell some time but I was lucky.

Yeah, Baltimore, I've heard, is pretty rough. Business people are leaving 'cause their employees aren't safe.
I've had guns pointed at me, but that's it. I guess getting shot isnt like the movies. In "Shooter" Marky Mark gets shot point blank through the most complex part of the shoulder. 2 minutes later he's getting towed through
ice water by a tugboat. Suspension of disbelief de-suspended. What a crock.
