 Will this controversy develop to the same epic proportions as the MIA v MIM debate?
 Will the "Burst Purists" and "Neoclassic Burst afficionadoes" be able to convince the 3 Tone Burst supporters that 2 tone is enough for ANY player?
 Does a players burst choice affect thier tone?

Only time will tell . . . . .

2 tone for me. I think 3tone is ugly. That red/orange band is horrible.

Brothers and Sisters I am torn. On my Strats I prefer a 3 tone burst finish, while I like my Teles with just 2.

+1 niki. I think 3 tones look really ruddy. Maybe if it were a perfect shading transition, I'd like it a bit more, but it just reminds me of a toy.

2 tone!

Totally subjective one again.

My first electric was a Squier Cherry Sunburst and I thought that color was awesome, fading to the wood in the center. I'd still have it had I not stumbled on my tie-dye strat for a good price.

Neither! Either white, blonde or natural will do it for me

Only 2 three tone burst haters!?
-sigh-
I will have to try to come up with something more controversial for the next poll.

Sorry, but I love all 2 tone and 3 tone bursts. I also like the Sienna, tobacco bursts, silver bursts , and just about every other burst paint job out there.

And for my next guitar I am looking at a nice single tone color with no wood grain showing, just to change up my guitar collection up a bit.

 Ugly?.....Really?

Here's my dumba**idness. I just cannot stand red guitars. Talk about ugly. I think the red color makes them sound bad too. But the 2-tone just looks like it's missing something in the transition across the grain without that red in it. So I love the 3-tone. In essence, it's a red guitar, but I love 'em. Go figure, huh? (I might need counseling.)

I like the 2.

The 3 looks too busy.

Not at all sir. You can give me all the red ones allowed in your lifetime quota, that you may have bought had you already lived to a ripe old age. And in return I'll send you all the 3tone sunbursts allowed in mine.

Theres no accounting for taste and theres no questioning it either.

As for sounds. I can assure you, if i get a fairly crushing hammer of god kind of tone out of a humble MIM with ceramic pickups. I'm meticulous about every sound I use. If I could improve that sound by smearing doggie do all over the guitar I would, colour be damned. It doesnt worry me that much.

What I'd like to be explained to me though is-
If the 3tone sunburst that you profess to love, in essence a red guitar. And red guitars sound bad. Does that mean you like bad sounding guitars?
(I think i could do with a bit of counselling after thinking that one up. If you could just recommend a good one  )

I'd like a 2 tone Am. Deluxe, although I like the 3 tone burst but it has to be done correctly!

I think Alain has one in his collection and the burst effect has been done very nicely... a true period correct 3 tone burst 8)
