I grew up in Illinois so it has to be Chicago deep dish. Yeah, and give me a pitcher of Old Style to wash it down. :)

Whats your favorite? New York style thin crust or Chicago deep dish?

I have been into the New York style lately. We found a local place that makes these great 20" NY thin crust pizzas nice big slices to fold and eat.

I have always liked deep dish pizzas. I do occasionally like thin crust pizza though.

You can put any topping on my pizza except anchovies, green peppers, and onions (I happen to be allergic to onions; love the taste, hate the swelling and hives).

My favorite pizza has a story behind it.

On our first Friday night after graduating from Air Force basic training in 1983, two buddies and I chipped in what little money we had to get a pizza delivered to us on base. It had to be thin crust because that was cheaper. And we were able to scrounge up just enough money to get three toppings on the pizza. Alec chose pepperoni, Brent chose black olives, and I chose mushrooms.

I haven't seen either of those guys in 25 years, but a thin-crust pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives always makes me smile. 8)

Anyone tried that new recipe at Dominoes yet? I heard it's supposed to be similar to Pizza Hut now.

No, but my wife, whose parents came from Sicily, make a great thin crust pizza.
Mike I have been enjoying the thin crust lately, it's a family owned place were the parents are from Italy that own the shop.

Neither. Chicago style thin crust is where it's at.
If its thin crust then would that not be like a NY thin crust which is similar to Naples Italy pizza brought over here? What's different about the Chicago thin crust?

Good question! so many pizzaria's in Chi and every one has it's own recipes for dough and sauce, different sausage types too. I like a thin crust that is almost crisp not doughy. its funny too that the most famous Chi spots for deep dish and stuffed style ie: Lou Malnati's, Pizzaria's Uno and Pizzaria's Duo, Bacci's, Allegretti's, Gino's East, my all time favorite "Mr Tom's" ,have outstanding thin crust as well. when you come to Chi bring your pizza appetite you won't be disappointed.

Too heck with that thick crust stuff! If I want to eat bread, I'll go grab a loaf. Gimme toppings, lots and lots of toppings, and a beer to go with it.

Chicago Blues = OUTSTANDING
Chicago Pizza = Fail

Okay, I feel better now.

The best pizza out there is Boston Pizza's Great White North. It's as basic as you can get, mozza cheese, cheddar cheese and ham. That's it. Simple and perfect.

I like a sausage and onion pizza from a Greek shop. One of the few things I miss about living up north is pizza. It just doesn't taste the same down here. Transplanted New Yorkers blame the water. I can't put my finger on it.

Steve, it's definitely the water, the same reason why NY coffee is good.

It's cold up here (NJ)!

Those who truly love pizza, should definetly put Pasquini's on their must do list when in denver co. It is truly the best in the region hands down, and the service is topnotch in a casual atmosphere with local art for sale decorating the walls of the dining room. This is one cool place to do up an awesome pie!
