what are some of your guys inspirations to either write songs or music or become a guitarist?

my biggest are Chris Cornell, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Jeff Buckley, and Bruce Springsteen

Cornell, Dylan, Buckley, Springsteen for their writing of songs

and Clapton for his guitar, i dont know why but his guitar playing is my favorite style

My parents for always listening to music and introducing me to a lot of it. I can't remember not having music to listen to, ever.

A Christian rock band from the 90's called Audio Adrenaline was my first taste of rock music, and what started me out on guitar. I fell in love with the sound of the electric guitar from their records, and their songs were some of the very first I learned.

And Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan got me into blues and pretty much everything else that I like which isn't the rap, hardcore, hard rock, and metal that I was into before. They also made me realize the importance of practicing whenever you can. I remember the first time I saw Stevie I could hardly believe anyone could be that good at guitar in any genre, period. It lit the fire and made me want to practice like a maniac. I'm still nowhere near Stevie (and probably never will be), but I'm light years better than I was about a year ago when this all happened. :)

First and foremost Sergio Vallin, hearing him on the Mana Unplugged album was the one reason I wanted to learn guitar to begin with. Then hearing him play electric made me want to play electric as well as acoustic. Anytime I am frustrated with my guitar I just listen to the guy play and immediately I'm inspired to play some more. This was the video that got me inspired from the first minute, great solo.

my other 5: Muddy Waters, Jimmy Page, Skip James, Son House and Buddy Guy

I've tried a lot of different styles including the whole 80s shred stuff, but if there's ever been one play who's been able to evoke so much emotion with one note, it's Paul Kossoff. Lately i've settled in to less of a 'I know lots of techniques let's put them in' to much more of a 'just play what you feel and build on it melodically' kind of guy because of him. I'm also inspired by Steve Clark of Def Leppard, another good guitar player with incredible stage presence who shyed away from the 'flash player' thing but still remained undeniably cool.

I'm inspired by the sounds I hear, the things I see, and the places I've been, and also thank my parents for putting up with me and encouraging me to be creative and pursue music.
