okay so my friend is bringin' over his Les Paul over our Christmas break and im gonna change his strings, however, i feel this isnt the problem. He said there's a vibrating when he strums. I think he's got a bent truss rod and loose pickups. He said he strummed and put his finger on the pickup and the vibrating stopped. Then he went and moved the neck back and the vibrating stopped. Does anybody know what might be wrong? I'll give a more detailed description when i get a hold of it. He wants to know how much a repair on either both or the pickups and the rod separately.

Stryder its a little hard to evaluate from your description. It could be a lot worse than a trussrod or pickup issue. It could be something as simple as raising a pickup a bit.
I'd be happy to help when you get more info mate.

What did he mean when he said that he moved the neck back?
That sounds ominously bad.

Gibson and Epiphone have lifetime warranties, why not let a tech look at it and not run the risk of voiding the warranty? Could just be a setup problem if you're lucky. If you're not sure of what you're doing, let a tech handle it.

I agree with 63Supro. Your friends best bet is to take it to a qualified tech and get an estimate. Then he can shop around and find the best guy for the job who is reasonable price wise.

Take it to an authorized dealer and they will fix any issues under warranty (unless your buddy has done some home tinkering that voids the warranty)
