Has to be a Tube Amp for me. Nothing else even comes close in my eyes or Ears should I say.

You can tweak a solid state amp in isolation for a while and convince yourself it sounds pretty good. Then just try A/Bing it against something as plain and simple as a cranked Blues Junior. And you'll go...

"Oh. I get it."

I've got 2 solid states and they make a sound that can get close, but nothing like the real thing.

Waffling between upgrading to a twin reverb or a baseman when some spare cash shows up :)

I love my Epi valve junior head/cab - 5 watts and it's amazing. Eventually I would like to try on e of the many mods for it- just can't decide which one yet.

For both bass and guitar I prefer tubes...my 74' Bassman 100 is the cat's booty, for both.

However, I've found for most present day bass applications my SWR 550X is the perfect combination of tone, features and dependability. The hybrids are nice.

From a pure tone standpoint, all tubes, and nothing but.

I have one of each (Roland Cube 60 and Fender Blues Jr) and like both. I can find tones I like on both.

Wow, let me see....tubes?......or solid state? Hmmm....tough decision :? I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say tubes are the best for blues.

I prefer tube amps, but there are xceptions to every rule.

BB King, for example.

I would rather play through a well designed, good sounding solid state amp than a poorly designed bad sounding tube amp.

hey guys,
I am in a band that does regular gigs. from bars to festivals. Now I wish Fender was paying me to say this but I actually use a HotRod Deluxe with one 12" speaker, this amp gives me the blues sound I need and also the southern rock. I just switch berween 1 of 3 distoetions I use and a Line 6 Echo Park. I also use a blues driver pedal (Dan Electro) to give the tubes just a bit more tweaking. I've played it in clubs that would ho;d 70 to 100 people and up to out door venues that had a few thousand. Mic the amp and run through the mixxer. Since I'm older 54 and dob't like lugging 1/2 stacks anymore I've found sometimes smaller is better. besides the outdoor sound system is pushing 2400 watts to the mains 800 to monitors so who makes a guitar amp with that much crank anyway! by the way love those tubes

No contest - Marshall Bluesbreaker, just listen to the 'Beano' album, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, it redefined the sound of the Blues.
