Today I received an Email from the Experience Hendrix site that Janie Hendrix oversees.The Email refered me to a contest to win a FENDER Strat not the Gibson one.The Strat is an Olympic White lefty strung for right handed players with the strap button on the bottom horn.This contest is to commemorate the release of a new Hendrix boxed set it is also sponsored by Amazon.com so I'm not sure how much of a hand Janie had in it but it seems that if her site is sending emails promoting the contest she must be closely involved.It just strikes me as a bit unusual especially so soon after the Gibson/Hendrix/Strat fiasco.

I know it has been quite but from what I have seen recently that guitar is still coming out as there was an add for them in one of the guitar mags. To tell the truth I am as sick of hearing about it as I am Tiger Woods. It is not aimed at the serious player and will probably be a dud. I dont think Janie will be getting a Christmas card from Fender.

She knows full well that there's still lots of big bucks yet to be made off of Jimi's legacy. Now that the whole Gibson thing and anticipated financial windfall thereof will surely not be realized, she's probably all the more eager to try another, more 'guaranteed' angle. Who can blame her? Besides, there's a possibility too that all this erroneously anticipated Gibson money may have lead her on a premature shopping spree where she has to recoup some serious funds rather quickly.

Naturally, this is merely IMO, YMMV.
