Hi Nic,
Heres a couple more cents..
I guess if it were me, I would have to decide if it was going to be a fun deal, at my stage of life, (50) I don't want to learn anymore lessons, and I wouldn't want to add anymore stress to my life. You seem like an extremely talented and skilled musician, so I'm sure you "would pass the audition" :D
So If its a fun deal and satisfying I say Hell Yes!

Bill

Nik, go for it; if it doesn't work out, at least you wont have regrets afterwards that you didn't give it your best

Hi Nick, bite the bullet and ask them, or tell them that you're looking out for musicians to join your one man band. :) Good luck with that and let us know how it turns out.

It sounds like you guys had some real chemistry when you were together, which isn't always easy to find. If your singer is reaching out to you after all this time, well perhaps it was something that was meant to be!

How many great bands have there been that didn't have their fair share of personal conflicts?

In the end, only you can decide whether or not getting back together is right for you. But if it's something you really want to do, you shouldn't let the fear of what might go wrong keep you from doing something that could potentially be great.

Hey Nik, just my humble opinion here, but since some of you have a history, why not continue that, and you are right, it won't ever be the same. But you can start from here, and make it even better than before! Best wishes man, keep us posted if you go for it!

I think things could be greatly improved the second time around. Sometimes maturity brings huge benefits to a reunion. Mistakes from the past are learned from, you may have more of an appreciation for the present with the group, and be able to work together toward being the best you can be in the future. I say go for it especially if you all see things the same way now.

Personally I would not be comfortable being the one to upset the apple cart in someone else's band. If it were me I would drop my own hints of being available and interested in playing in a band again and then let them come to me. Being seen as a poop disturber prolly would not help the stability and longevity of a position in the band and could also be an act of bridge burning on other fronts as well. But that's just me.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I think most of the people you'll find on the Fender forum are pro-band

It's silly of both the singer and you to wait for the other to crack. I say end this madness :P

Hmmm We exhausted all the possibilities many years ago mate. We went everywhere and did lots and lots of things. Theres not really a lot for that band left to do. I did feel incredibly guilty when my replacement stole the drummer. As I said they've been in decline since I left. A lot of me wants to correct that, they dont deserve it.

I'd be quitting or seriously straining a regular gigging band to do it.
