The singer of my old band keeps dropping hints that they may be after another guitarist. He and I are too much of the same kind. I suspect he wont ask me outright but drop hints.

All I've been listening to lately is old cd's of us lot.

it didnt end well last time round but I am a lot more mature, and a lot of our fallout was on my part.

Whaddya reckon guys, shall I pop the question?

People here know me for my motto that has helped more than hindered (surprisingly)

That is: ''You Live only once?

You might as well die TWICE!!''

[EDIT] When I said 'here' I meant Belfast btw, not the Forum.

Go for it bro. You rock.

Yeah I do. Thats right Cherokee. Lets not forget that hindsight is always 20/20 and usualy rose tinted too. Also I could be reading more into it than is intended.

That said the band went into a unfortunate decline when I left. A lot of sycophantic people (yes i dont accept compliments) said they lost something when I left.

2 days after I quit I tried to make amends, to no avail. It's taken 3 years for the singer to speak to me. I find the guitarist they replaced me with nicked the drummer and formed a 5hit band that folded after a few months. The bassist who I also had run ins with but got on with too, left a few months back. I do feel sorry for them, they deserve better. When I found all that lot out, I offered to play bass for them, the singer is bassing it now. I got a myspace message a few days ago, "were thinking of adding another guitarist". He knows I'm playing in a swing band(been through some unrest too) now and that at heart I'm just another old punk.

Nik man, I have heard your stuff (me and the boys are workin our way through....impressed.com!). You got nothin to lose.

You may not like compliments but these guys wanna paint a picture and it seems you are a shade of paint they just can't buy. Fill that 5h1t tin. Like I said, if you only live once you may as well die twice....

Niki I say extend the olive branch.

I played a gig with old band members a couple years ago. originally we had ended on very bad terms. Like you we had all matured, and decided to try catch the old magic. Although the gig was fun/great we decided to not reform. But we are now all back on speaking terms, and dare I say it, are even friends again.

If the singer is making overtures he must feel that all animosity is forgotten,if it were me I'd go for it.

See now thats what I'm scared of. The last drummers a washed up smackhead living in a squat somewhere. The drummer from 97 has replaced him. The old bassist has gone too, though I reckon I could talk him round.

It could all end very badly.

Never mind live once die twice. Live fast die young was our old motto. We've all outlived it.

It could be a lot of fun though. A hell of a lot of fun. It wont get back to what it was, I'm sure.

It never will be what it was probably but all the bulls**t may be worth it for those momentary grins midsong that we all love.

I say give it a shot. Everybody is older and wiser.

I've never regretted anything I've done, but there are a few things I didn't do that I regret not doing...
