I've met 3, yes THREE, guys in Belfast who have been sold a fake!

There are so many.....pretty much every guitar manufacturer has the issue of knock-offs.
The key is not to get taken.
I'm sure Fender is all over it.
If not they will be soon.

plsbrk, I thought I was losing my mind. I was like "didn't I just respond to this?" I just realized you are in the Gibson forum too :D

Same goes here. US companies can only go after sellers of counterfeits on their soil.

The only way to stop them is to only buy from authorized Fender dealers. These guys do Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Martin you name it.

When you buy a used guitar you never know what you're getting, and if you really think you're going to get a new, real Fender at a fraction of the cost you deserve what you get.

I remember when Ibanez was copying Fender and Gibson guitars, the big difference was they said Ibanez on the headstock. Some of them were so good, Ibanez was sued over it.

Come on guys, do you really think you can get a new Jimmy Vaughan Strat for $325 unless maybe it's hot? It goes for almost $900 everywhere else.
If you buy hot (stolen) equipment shame on you anyway.

Let the buyer beware. That's how you stop it.

Ahh yes, the famous 1977 lawsuit, that really changed some things didn't it...namely headstocks, the copies still get mde.

The sad thing with the fakes is it looks like people may be buying them knowing what they are just to flip them at a higher price. I don't but guitars from strangers, never have. At least if you buy from GC, Sam Ash, Mom & Pop etc. you can take the guitar back.

People and companies that do this kind of thing should be publicly flogged!! I only buy my Fender gear from authorized fender dealers because of this kind of thing..it makes my blood boil!

The funny thing is Squiers and the cheaper Epiphone cost more on that site than at music store in the USA.

Holey Cow!!! There were a couple I could not even tell that they were fakes. Yet another reason I only buy new from authorized Fender Dealers only.
