It was 29 yrs ago today that the man who opened the door to my life-long career was brutally taken from us.When I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show I knew then at 9 yrs old that I had to be a musician.John especially looked like he was on top of the world his cockiness and confidence had a profound effect on me.To paraphrase John "that looks like a good job,I'll do that."Music and the guitar especially has brought more joy and satisfaction and everything else positive into my life than anything else(of course excluding family)and I have John to thank for this.To think that Mike Damian Crapman(I won't use his name) did this only to get his name recognized worldwide makes John's murder much more of a waste.Anyway I'm sure there are many others who owe a lot to John and the rest of The Beatles for setting them on the musical path.Thankyou John God Bless You.

There should be a way on this forum to add a +1 without having to post.

How I remember that day !! My cousins future husband and I were in NYC that day.... it was a Monday and very warm for a December day. I used to buy alot of music in New York because there was a bigger selection than where I lived. I almost went to the Dakota because Double Fantasy just came out and it was fairly easy to get a glimpse of John & Yoko. My cousins husband didn't want to go; he said we could always come back some other time...... I did see John though at a Rory Gallagher concert at the Bottom Line in NYC in 1976. Unbelievable that it was so long ago !!

When I was in NYC in June, I went to the Rock and Roll HOF Annex in Soho, where they've had the John Lennon:The NYC Years on exhibit for a while....great exhibit...lyrics, drawings, guitars, his army jacket and his iconic New York City cut-off t-shirt, a bunch of other cool stuff. However, what moved me the most (Lennon was always my favorite Beatle both during and afterwards for his social activism) was behind a glass case; the bag of John's clothing that Yoko got back from the NYC Police dept this day 29 years ago...it is aged now, but you can still see the blood stains, now brown, from the clothing inside. To say that I didn't shed tears would be lying. Near by is a white wall phone where Yoko will sometimes call and speak to people seeing the exhibit. The day before I was there, she had called and spoken to someone for a 1/2 hour, a guard told me.

Those of you planning a trip to the city, go see it; The Annex is closing permanently on Jan. 3. I got my tickets thru Goldstar.com; half off plus a fee, still a good deal as there is lots of other really cool stuff from rock history.
I know that right now, John is teaching angels "Working Class Hero"!

Lennon truly was one of the greats.

I hate wondering what kind of wonderful songs he'd have put out if the world still had him.

If you are interested, this was John's home in Liverpool. Mendips.
He spent his younger days here.

I remember the night John died very clearly.

I seem to remember lots of candles being carrier in Central Park to honor him.

Sad.

If you do ever get to Liverpool, they do a Magical Mystery Tour, that takes in all the sites. You even get access into the houses.
It looks like a good trip, I hope you can do it one day. :D
