As we prepare to bid farewell to the year 2009 (which most English speakers pronounce as "two thousand nine"), I'm curious to know how people intend to say the coming year--2010.

I'm ready to start saying "twenty ten" and not "two thousand ten." How about you?

Hi RR: 1984 was Nineteen Eighty Four, right?

So to my ear 2010 is Twenty Ten. No question.

The ones I find myself doing different ways without quite being certain why are: 2009, 2008, 2007, etc. After all, it was Two Thousand And One: A Space Odyssey. And yet I often also say Twenty Oh Nine, and it sounds OK on my ear.

Odd.

BTW: if you're British then the other option you offered would have to be Two Thousand And Ten, not Two Thousand Ten. One of those tiny Brysonesque points...
