MATE, YOU WANT TO LEARN BLUES?? PARDON MY FRENCH BUT this is the $@!& right here: http://www.bluesyoucanuse.com/

Forget liitle bits and pieces from YouTube teachers sitting in front of the computer.

I would recommend the Blues You Can Use booklet as a great foundation, the book comes with a CD, tableture and a whole bunch of theory that you can skip if you so desire. On this website you can browse some of the books content and listen to some sample tracks from the CD. You can order the backing track CD aswell and play along with the band all the solos and rhythms that you have learned.

More Blues You Can Use is meant to be good but there is no backing CD so I deem it pointless to learn solos/rhythms on there own. I also got Blues Licks You Can Use and got through about one page, I have real trouble understanding the theory and I would rather noodle around over backing tracks. Blues Rhythms You Can Use is good, the CD has the full band followed by the full band minus the rhythm so you can play over the top.

Some of the rhythms you learn are great, I have learned two or three so far but as I listened to the CD there seem allot of the rhythms sound the same, at least 5 or 6 are practically the same thing but I guess blues rhythms are based around a minimal number of chords. The book is a great change from playing blues lead.

Suggest some easy beginner blues songs/riffs for me to learn and if you can please include the tabs that you think are the best for learning the song you suggest. A lot of the time the hard part isn't learning the song, it's getting the right/correct tabs and learning it right.

Hoochie Coochie Man and Sweet Home Chicago are two great beginner songs. If you search Ultimate Guitar you'll find tons of hits for them.

i found hoochie coochie man and it is ne that i would love to learn since Muddy is my #1 blues idol, but I couldn't find tabs that sounded right. I played the ones I found and they just didn't seem on.

WOW, when you play wipeout slow it does sound kind of bluesy!

One thing I have noticed is when I play my licks slower and take time on spacing them out they sound much better, so maybe I should just focus on the repetition of them for now and then the speed.

+1 on the BYCU book. It's really a great fundamental learning tool.

I learned alot just playin' at open mic/blues jams. most jams have very supportive people. my first time, after not picking up a guitar for 25 years, (which will never happen again!), was a mess. my fingers were gettin' caught in the strings, etc.,. Everyone lied, said I sounded good, told me to keep coming back, which I did. That was in 2006. I'm a lead guitarist in a blues band and also a classic hits cover band now, and sit in with a couple of other bands once in a while. I'm no SRV,Clapton, or one of the Kings, but the more I get to play with others and watch them, the more I learn. I don't even know how to read tabs. They say less is more, which seems to work out fine for me. Try a blues jam in your area, after a couple of jams, I'm sure you will pick-up some nice riffs and your confidence and chops will improve. KEEP JAMMIN' DUTCH.

funny you should mention this because I am going to my first open mic blues jam tomorrow and a lot of the local guys I talked to at a music store today said to come out and it would be a blast. They said that even the beginners get in on the action and they try to incorporate everyone in the action so hopefully it'll go well.

hey Miami Mike I like all of these songs but I have a hard time finding tabs that are accurate for them. Do you have any tabs for any of these handy? If so I would be very appreciative.

I ordered it today, it only cost $12 on amazon and should be here in 3-5 days. Sounds like a good deal especially since it came recommended by several on here. I really hope it'll help because I know I have the blues, I just have to figure out how to play them!
