Well it's been almost a week, but my son and I were rough-housing and he somehow managed to twist my thumb on my left hand a weird way that it hurts like hell, I thought it was fractured but since I can move it I said screw going to the doctor and decided to walk it off. A week later it still hurts like a mothaf#(%&*# and it's hard for me to play :( but I still do.

Sounds like you may have hyperextended your thumb. I did the same thing a few years ago and know full well the pain you must be feeling. There's not much a doctor can do, but an x-ray can confirm that nothing is seriously damaged. :(

+1 on the Doc, it might worsen over the years and hinder you in the long run.

Doc dude!

+1 on the doc idea, if it is overextended thumb thing I received the same injury closing the trunk of a YUGO (that is another story  ). It did hurt like a motha.. for a while and did not go to see a doctor. Now a year after it still sometimes bugs me when it is cold outside.

I fell on ice and landed on my left hand bending the thumb all the way back. I had to go for cortazone shots and that was the only thing that helped.

I actually hyperextended both of mine at the same time. Let me tell you, you realize real fast how important opposable thumbs are when you can't even button your shirt or zip up your pants. It was a terrible, and very painfull experiance.

Get thee to a doctor pronto, you may have a stress fracture or damaged cartilege, either way it's not worth the risk of ignoring.

If the pain hasn't gone away after a week...Seek professional help. Might want to try an OTC anti-inflamatory medicine like Aleive or Naproxyn to reduce inflamation.

Well the best thing to do is not to play if you are feeling PAIN. Go to the Doctor and get it checked proper.
