Fender has so much covered, but they are very weak in the sub-$500 giggable tube amp market. And that's right where their competitors are aiming. Kustom, Peavey, Bugera, Epiphone. And that's right where kids and first-time early adopters develop brand loyalty. You want to be there, and well represented. It's very good for business.

So I propose a new line for Fender, a sub-label like Squier: Glasstone by Fender. A series of very affordable sub-$500 street tube amps made in China. One 6L6/KT66/EL34 switchable monotube close-ended Class A with soak similar to the Windsor Studio. One twin 6V6 stripper similar to the Princeton. And a bare-bones twin 6L6 called the Texas Special with 40 watts for $499 street. If Pignose can do it for $299, Fender can do it for $499.

Just send a check Fender. The above is worth about 50 million to you. And have it ready for press a week before NAMM.

Brilliant! Every word of it. Something exactly like that should be done. I personally, and I'm sure many others have never owned a Fender Tube amp, because quite frankly the price just was not right. And having grown up using different brands, now that I have the chance to buy a tube amp, it most likely will be something other than Fender. I feel that there are numerous amps of equal quality to Fender's amps for much less coin, so I'm leaning that way; I always try to get the best for X amount of dollars I have to spend. Fender has gotten my vote in that dept. as far as guitars go. If they had a line of amps they could apply that same principle to, I think their sales would show improvement quickly.

maybe put tube retifiers in the "blues" amps in the lower price lines(hotrod and others). the competition does it. blues players would like it. nothing like the subtle "squash" it gives and more organic feel. hopefuly not cost an arm and a leg.

I would like to see a 10 yr warranty on custom shop amps. As well as some custom shop hand wired chassis mounted jacks, pot and tube socket Blackface Vibro Champ with a 10 inch Alnico speaker and tube rectifier, or a Princeton or Deluxe Reverb with a 12" Alnico of the same design. That would be worth a grand or 2.

Is it also known as a Hot Plate? I would like to see Fender come up with something like this....

Absolutely....I have a hot plate attached to my HRD it is the best bit of kit i ever bought. Fender should absolutely make one of these. But then i suppose they would say we have the wrong amp if we cant use the volume. And thats why they sell the Champ. Or Mustang 1.
