I’m still waiting on my new 4x12 cab to come in the mail.. I the mean time I have my amp head sitting on an old rod iron aquarium stand to keep it off the floor, and the speaker wire running to the marshall cab on its right.. is this stand posing any potential grounding problems or anything like that? Is this a safe way to be operating?...It is sturdy enough for sure, I’m just worried about it being metal…I’m no electrician or anything truth be told high voltage scares the heck out of me..what do you think? Am I just picking nits or should I put something non conductive under the head?

Cheers
Bill

Piggyback it on the Marshall head and remove all doubt. Don't think it will hurt you though........ 8) Mike

the only problem with that Mike; it is way bigger than the marshall head and don’t fit very stable on top of it..i could put the marshall on top of the Mesa but then I cover up the heat vents and it gets too hot….

It shouldn't hurt after all Vox used metal frames to support their amps and cabs for years.

In a well designed, well built piece of equipment (like the Mesa) high voltage is confined to the interior of the the equipment. There should be absolutely no problem using a metal stand. Just don't go sticking your fingers (or anything else, for that matter) into it. :?

Theres no problem sitting it on metal. You could place it over a tin bath and as long as it didnt fall in it would be fine, think of metal washing machines/tools etc etc. CPD's and CPC,s and good design are what keep you safe.

The mains chord is the usual point of trouble and that can be controlled through vigilance.

I don't mean to go off topic here, but seeing as we've pretty much clarified that it wont do any harm. I think I'll compliment that guitar, it sure is gorgeous. I always liked the paisley guitars.

Nice stuff. :D

Thanx Trukis:

A friend of mine bought that thing 20 years ago and fell into a hard way a week or so after…he had been begging for me to buy it but I was not a fender fan at the time nor did I need another Guitar…finally I bit only because I knew he needed the money and figured I could re sell it later….again that was 20 years ago and since that day I have not had a single regret about buying it…it’s a sweet ride, a Diamond in a bowl of rocks as far as I’m concerned, my #1. looking forward to another 20 with it. I love the paisley but the pink had to grow on me after a few years.

here is a close up.

Cheers
Bill
