Liam Clancy, the last remaining of the Clancy Bros., died December 4. As Bob Dylan stated, " Liam was the best ballad singer I'd ever heard in my life". The Clancy Bros. were part of the folk revival in the early 1960's and were a fixture in Greenwich Village. It was a magical time in a magical place with magical performers and people. There will never be anything like that again ...

Rest in Peace, Love, Joy, Harmony, and Music, Liam.
Thank you for all that you've done.

Liam Clancey was a boon to the popularity of Irish music,he had sold out venues here every time he played here, usually with Tommy Makem. As a large portion of our province is or Irish extraction Liam Clancey was revered as a musical giant. On the "Southern Shore" where I live the whole coast from St. John's to Salmonier is known as "The Irish Loop"as 98% of the people here are proudly Irish through and through and still hold strong bonds with Ireland. It will be a day of mourning here no doubt.Godspeed Liam.

I saw this news in the newspaper this morning. The music of The Clancy Brothers was the first music I can remember being exposed to and I've always loved it since. Very sorry to see that he has left us. May the music live on.
