I usually practice at reasonable levels but every now and again I twist it up and shake the dust out of the speakers and the wax out of the ears. It had occurred to me that I had no idea what my new amp would do in terms of output volume.

I came home from work the other day with the intention of trying the mesa Electra Dyne Dimed out to see what it was all about/ you know, see what it would do. I have got to admit I could not get the volume master knob past 11:00 …I had a super long cord and was halfway across the house in a different room by the end of the test and it was just way too much..(and that was in 45 watt mode, not 90)..Its is just way too loud; I have not gigged it as yet but to be blatantly honest I cant see ever having to turn up past 10:00 or 11:00even to rock a huge venue. The power on this thing is just Un-Godly… it smokes my Marshall in what it will put out in volume, (and that is saying something)

I Just wondering how loud you like to practice at?

Short of a retaliatory strike in response to a nuclear attack; I see no reason to ever Dime the Electra Dyne

Cheers
Bill

It depends on who is home at the time and the proximity of the neighbors. If nobody is home, and I know the neighbors are away, I'll turn it up a bit. Other than that, I try to keep the disturbance to a minimum.

normally I am at a low level...every now and then I just crank her up and let her go. My bride walks down knocks on the door and gives me the cutest look like...you are such a kid.,..and walks away smiling. Life is good! :D

Most of my practicing around the house is done on my Vox Pathfinder 15R and I don't crank that. When I'm jamming in my music room I use my Vox ad120vth set at 30 Wts. but never cranked or one of my JCM 800s with the master way down and the volume pretty well cranked so it's dirty and sweet but not ear splitting.Strangely enough I had my hearing checked lately because high volumes actually caused ear pain.I was sure 40+ yrs. of high volumes had damaged my ears but both my ears checked out 100% and the audiologist was surprised and had never seen it before, apparently my hearing is becoming more acute to the point I have to use drummers ear plugs.

I keep the battery powered Tonemaster in the fornt of the house for playing at low volumes when the family is around. In the back bedroom, I have my 1966 Deluxe Reverb modded to 44 watts with a K120 JBL. I shut the door and play at about 3 or 3 1/2. If nobody is home, I may hit it up to 5 just so I can work at controling the volume and tone at more of a club (with drummer) level.

I like hearing.......so I never crank it up all the way.

Half of the time I dont plug in at all. The times I do I would say I set it at moderate level.

I'm ususally at lower levels like around 2-3 with the SCXD, but if I fire up the Vibro King or the HRD it will likly be at around 4. No longer a quiet volume with those amps.

I usually keep my 15 watt Vox valvetronix at 7 and the gain turned back to around 10 oclock. When my wife thinks it's too loud she just shuts the door to the practice room.

I live in the country. My closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. When I'm in the mood I'll put my amp on my front porch and crank 'er up!

When just at home practicing I keep the volume at a reasonable level, not to loud, not to quiet.

In truth I play my acoustics alot more than the electric, just easier to grab and play, no plugging in or hooking up.

But when I do plug the Strat in to the Line 6, it's usually pretty low. In the summer/nice weather months, I take it out to the garage on weekends after the family is in bed, a little louder than. But in all honesty I've never had that 75w amp up over 1/2 way and can't imagine a need to have it that loud.
