Hey guys, I just had a great couple of hours with my Telecoustic Deluxe in open G and the slide on the go.

Its somethin that used to be beyond me but I'm really gettin better at it now.

How many of you guys use a slide and in what tuning?

Do you do it more on electric or acoustic or do some of you have lapsteels or resonators?

As always I'd be interested to know and any advice is always welcome.

Thanks guys.

CC

Im a beginning slide player so i went with Open E, so all the root notes still make sense to me. Also I set up my Sqiuer bullet strat with a higher action and go with that. I like my slide playing slightly overdriven...but to each his own.

Whenever I've played slide I've used open E but I think it's time I tried something more adventurous.

Open E & open G. I prefer open E..less thinking involved for me :D BUT in open G I can get some really great Joe Walsh stuff going!

Ah mate its easy. All you gotta do is get a slide alter your tuning and go for it.

I use open E and open G with slide. I also spend a good bit of time in that funny Bminor tuning I came up with. I dont use the Bmi with slide though. I like all three without slide too, particularly open E.

The day you posted that weird 'Niki Tunin' I was at it for hours, I thought it was great!

I'm waiting to get my Jag or my squire bullet (really my brothers but he ruined the poor thing and I took it into the fold) fixed to play some more slide. The neck pup for the jag sounds great with slide, and my strat sounds kind of muffled when I try it, but it manages fine. I also like some light overdrive with slide, it gives a nice crunch to the midrange.

When I play slide I just do it in standard tuning.

Why do people play slide in open tunings? I figure it has to do with chords but when I want to play a chord in standard tuning I just use the A maj form.
