Well as someone who has a pretty nice collection of his last two models the EBMM EVH and Peavey Wolfgang I can only go by what I know of them. Having a 200 serial number will not make the guitar anymore valuable at this point in time than having #2000 Usually the prototypes and a top ten number may stir interest but they go to special people.

It more than likely is a first production run. What makes the guitar rare or more valuable is what happens during the run of the guitar. Lets take a look at the other two models and this will make everything crystal clear for you.

The EBMM EVH was produced from 90-95 a little over 6,000 guitars were produced in total over that span, which is about 1300 guitars a year. Now factor in the colors of which there were a lot more options. According to EB these are the numbers made for each color. The most common Red, Blue, Amber and Purple with about 1,400 in each. About 600 in T Black and Sunburst. Around 400 in Natural. 200 Pink, 96 green.26 solid Gold and 16 in Solid Black. Now these guitars are hard to find as there were not that many made and you can know by looking you are going to pay a lot more for a Pink or Green finish than Blue or Red

The Peavey Wolfgangs ran from 96-04 and many more guitars were produced as that was one of the reasons Vanhalen left EB because they could not produce enough guitars fast enough to keep up with the orders , as some people were waiting 10 to 15 months. The Peavey Wolfgangs only came in a quilt top the first year and you will see these advertised as 1st year quilts which came in Amber, Purple, T Red and Sunburst. Even though these are not the best looking quilt tops in fact next to an EBMM it is not even close they are very rare as about only 250 were produced in each color, as there were a ton of Black and Ivory guitars the first year. Also in the first year you will find PAT PEND models and prototypes which have a serial # that starts with a 1 and some have no serial number at all. After the first year they switched to flamed maple tops and offered about 13 Standard colors. You also then had the Custom shop which turned out about 500 one of a kind models that are just off the chart and could be ordered in any color, wood, or features you wanted.

So you can see that you will not know what your guitars value will be for a longtime. If they do not do well and go belly up after a year or two then it will be valuable. If they come out with different colors and discontinue the one you have or start making changes to the body or electronics things of that nature. I love these guitars and they are the only guitars I own besides Fenders and I think you will agree the neck is probably the best you played. The only thing I think I can be certain of is that Eddies run with Fender will have a time limit as he has proven over and over again he cant stay with one company to long.

Hey you just spent 3 grand on a guitar you should be more worried about setting it up and playing the hell out of it. To be honest I have not checked out the new one so I wish you would put up what you think of it and how it sounds and plays . Just take good care of it and maybe one day it will be worth more than you payed for it.
