Any help would be appreciated. I am seriously considering throwing an offer on this Ebay item, but I want to get your opinion to make sure this looks like it's 100% authentic...I am always very carefull when it comes to guitars on Ebay. Seller says is 100% original...

Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

I know 70's fenders might not have the best reputation compared to their earlier cousins (I'm not asking to get into that HUGE discussion  )...but with being born in '78, it being a lefty (which are tough to find), the color I want, and it being in such good shape...I don't know if I can pass it up!

P.S. - I know the asking price is waaaaaaaaay too high, but hopefully he'll accept my offer...if I so choose to extend one after getting your feedback!

I appreciate any information provided!

Ryan

Body and neck look ok, so do the tuners and bridge. Cant vouch for the pickups and pots or the shielding.

£2k for a 79 lefty tele in that condition seems about the right price to me.

Looks good to me... as far as I'm aware, the CBS years were quite kind to Teles anyway so the '70s thing isn't really an issue... did the Tele Deluxe (with the Strat-style headstock) have the 3-bolt neck and bullet truss-rod? Other models seem to have been left unmolested. That one would be pretty hard to pass up if you're a lefty in the market for a new gat...

Looks legit.

As was mentioned earlier, the Teles didn't suffer like the Strats did back then.

And if the pickups howl and shriek under high gain, then for sure they are original!LOL

Personally, I think the price is WAY too high but do I understand your position. Hopefully, you can get that price to come down.

Go for it and good luck!!

That looks nice!

The "L/H" marking looks just like the markings on my 1971 lefthanded Strat ...

Thanks for the replies and info so far...much appreciated!

I agree that the initial asking price is way too high...what's your opinion on what is a fair price? What would you offer?

Although it's pretty,I wouldn't go above $2,200 tops $2,000 wouldn't be too bad.

As far as I can tell it's the real deal. Don't let the "chatter" about bad 70's Fender put you off, my '74 Strat is fine. Make an offer and let us know what happens.
