Hey guys,I was just over 'snooping' on the Gibson site and the new Buckethead signature is up. This guys isn't my style AT ALL but I can't help but be impressed by him.

He makes everything look so easy!

Anyway, I watched the video there with him showing off his guitar and was reading up on the features too and saw he has kill switches in the form of Arcade style joystick buttons.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Check it out.

He is very talented and I really do enjoy watching him perform, but I don't think I would consider that guitar.

I wouldn't either but I really like the idea of the arcade button kill switches!

You can hook a kill switch up to any guitar. (It's just a Radio Shack switch) Look on Youtube or Google.

His guitar is special because it is an oversized baritone with lower tunings.

He is very talented. He used to play Jackson and other guitars. Gibson didn't make him. They just got lucky.

Well if I'm not allowed to say this on the Fender website then where? To my eye that is a travesty of a Les Paul, visually at least.

BTW: CC, do you have a Paul? Because you can use the selector switch as a kill switch: just turn the volume right off one one of the pickups and wiggle that toggle back and forth. Instant kill effect.

Cheers - C

I like the kill switches but until now i've never heard Buckethead play and i have to wonder how good he would be playing something with a melody. It sounded like my 7 year old banging on my old guitar with a vibrating toy or something. I truely hope that his style isn't the future of music it's horrible. I'm sure he is alot more talented than i am though but he's just weird.

I have a 72 Tele Custom RI and I use the selector as a kill switch all the time but what I'm saying is I like the idea of the arcade buttons, tapping would seem like you could get a lot more speed out of it than switching.

CC, thanks for the link. I like the LP sound. Carlos Santana and Neal Schon used that guitar's sound on early Santana songs and early Journey songs that I listen to still. BH is a guitar player just not into the stuff that he is playing on the video, not a critique, just don't think it is or ever will be top 40 playing and if you look at all of the guitarists that are considered great, they have all had top 40 hits at some point in their career's. 4 large for a guitar is obscene. No way an average person who plays guitar can touch it, so that makes it the anti-guitar. A collectors item yes and congrats to all of the people who like to look at guitars but not play them because this one is definitely for that group. If Gibson sends me one and pays the postage and handling I'll keep it other wise there is an old beat up LP at my fav pawn shop that I'm interested in for under 4 hundo. With a little love from me it should sound just as good as any other LP Gibson makes.

The guy is a hack with a gimmick. He is just like thousands on youtube who are shredders and play 1000 notes a minute. His gimmick was the KFC Bucket (which he was served by KFC Cease a desist due to copy rights), he along with GNR was sued due to stealing a copy righted song.

Nothing about him impresses me, in fact it devalues real players everywhere; and makes me think what the music world has really come too? A stealing hack who records in a chicken coop and can't even come up with his own material; bet Les is turning over in his grave about this one.

Hi again CC: well I'm not convinced the button would be faster but who knows? It would be an easy and probably reversible mod to replace one of your '72 Tele's tone knobs with a button and give it a try. Be nice to use a button the same colour as the pickguard...

Here's a supplier of arcade buttons and other such items in our part of the world:

http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/arcadeparts.htm

What about an illuminated button?

http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/order ... uttons.php

Hey, I'm seeing some other stuff there you could fit to your Tele too - a joystick instead of a selector switch perhaps...?

Cheers - C

So, you don't like BH? What did he steal?

He was trained by Paul Gilbert. I guess you don't think he is good either?

Try listening to:

Jordan (Guitar Hero) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-woe3SC ... re=related

White Wash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8akmP6Sjv2o

Let me know who he stole these songs from cause that guy must be a genius.

Maybe he's not a top ten band pushed by corporate money that is pounded into your head everyday on the radio. But is that his fault or ours?

You are absolutely right. But LPs are expensive on their own so don't blame all the price on the artist. Building it would be a much better alternative but you have to remember that it is a baritone. Regardless artist and custom shop guitars introduce a concept and it is up to us to make it work for us.

Mustangtoo, I would have to ask ceri for a little assistance building as I don't know if I could get all of the electrical stuff right, but I like the idea Bro. I didn't mean to reign on BH's parade, I watched the vids and he has the chops without doubt just not my favorite style and I also step back because of mentioning the price part as I have the opposite of Gibsons issue, Gibson has very deep pockets with extremely short arms were as I have pretty long arms but very shallow pockets, oh well. To be fair our sponsors here have some pricey guitars too but you put it well " it is up to us to make it work for us". On that note, so as not to appear like I'm snapping at the hand tossing the bone into my cage. The End.

Buckethead isn't my cup of tea, but he can play.

That guitar on the other hand, is a travesty, in my opinion. It takes something warm, powerful, and professional like a real LP and turns it into something less. Why?
