I'm assuming that the 1985 in your Nevin1985 is your year of birth. Trust me Nevin, you'll look back on this in a couple years and laugh. Time changes everything. Hope this helps......... 8) Mike

Nevin,
I feel your pain. One piece of advice I can give, and thats go get something, anything until a job in your field is available. Isn't, there any temporary help for the holidays? Anyway, I wish you all the luck in finding something, keep your chin up.

Bill

Hi Nevin, sorry to hear about that. I feel that you are on the edge right now and it is probably not the best time to make important decisions. I am not aware of the details of your situation, but if you want to rant, go ahead it's on me. For the vast majority of us, life don't turn out to be "as planned" and we all have to deal with that. Take some time to explore the unexpected. It might seems like I am giving you advices but I'm not. All the time spent bitching is lost forever. Consider all the suggestions you've had so far and work something out of it. It might not work tomorrow morning but only you can start the process. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that Nevin....I'm out of the job as well.
I know nothing anyone says is going to really help. It is good to vent though.
But you have to get it out, scrape the sh** off and kick it into high gear.
I wish you the best. I hope that you get what you need, then what you want.

Nevin, you gotta know all of the Brothers and Sisters here are with you and want you to be successful, and you will be. Glad you let the pressure off, venting lets you recognize the things you want to change. For now chill, then be and stay strong. Prayers, good thoughts and good wishes from this Chi-town bass guitar player to you Bro.

I lost my job earlier this year, too ... after 15 years with the company along with 2000 other people. Almost a year later and they are still laying off another 1500 people. My wife does not work, and I have three kids. Can you say S-T-R-E-S-S?? It took quite a while to find a decent job. And when I did, we had to relocate from Austin, Texas to Pittsburg, PA ... luckily, I am really liking it up here (no snow, though). There are othere here going thru the same thing, man. Hang in there.

unemployed myself. got fired from a call center job where I won employee of the month numerous times, the productivity award all but 3 months out of my 24 months there, was always on time, stayed late, came in early when needed, helped the clients to no end....while others sat around half assed, took 5-6 breaks a day for 15 mins, were rude to clients, had clients hanging up on them or asking to speak to a manager because the representative they spoke with was rude, had one guy who only spoke in ebonics and had no idea how to support he product and people would just hang up on him the minute they heard his voice. Had another girl who missed literally 27 days of work "sick" up through Oct 23rd. 27 DAYS! And this is one of the biggest Investment firms we are talking about here allowing this to go one (C Slob)! Yet they fire me because my complaints about other workers not doing their job is seen as me "disrupting the culture" they have established at the office. Easier to fire one hard worker who does his job than to fire 6 people stealing money from the company all day by sitting there and doing their job 50%.

The best part, I got fired so I can't get unemployment pay.

So yeah man I am right there with you.

Nevin - hang tough Dude. You know you've always got friends here that care about you and will listen to your frustrations. I remember being in your shoes a time or two - I promise you - things will get better. It sucks hard, but you'll get through it.

Just keep on keepin' on Bro. It'll work out for you.

I've been in the same situation for a year now... They automated some of my work and what was still manual was sent to India. I know it sucks now, but it's not going to stay this way. Keep your focus, young man. Job searching and keeping the wolves at bay has now become my job. I believe if I keep up with it everyday it'll pay off.

What else can ya do? Give up?

Nope... ya can't.
