As always I'll chime in and champion Mr Stradlin seeing as Pink Floyd and Queen have been done but I'll give binterz a chance to name the song first.......he knows the one I mean......

oh jeez leave me in a quandary why don't ya lol. So many guns tunes. In fact so many would never be same with out jeff and michael on bv's! But if solo, i'm gonna swing my cat at shuffle it all. That song would be an entirely different beast without the woo hoo hoo's. Tho it could be so many and here's me betting i picked wrong one you thinkin of

I've always found the Backing Vox on "Dark side of the moon" beautifully haunting. "Give me shelter" was also at the top of my list, but mentioned by the OP.

Great songs in here folks, looked up both of mine, Merry Clayton has sang on aload of great songs including Sweet home Alabama, one of my favorites, which I didn't know,
Claire Torry was only paid £30 for her Pink Floyd Track ( possibly old news to you guys ) but had to go through the courts to get what she felt she was due, in the end was settled out of court, biggest selling album of all time, and the most instantly recognised vocal, I hope she got the millions she was due.

Without background vocals... where would Joe Cocker have gotten with the song "With A Little Help From My Friends"?

Remember Leon Russel doing Jumpin' Jack Flash/Young Blood medley on the Concert For Bangla Desh album? Oh yeah!

Oh, there's just so many that come to mind.

Background vocalists on the Bangladesh album were Don Nix, Jo Green, Jeanie Greene, Marlin Greene, Dolores Hall, Claudia Linnear. I Googled it and there is a website still dedicated to it to this day. 8)
