The problem with super groups is that Music tends to take a back seat to egos….

To answer your question….Yes!!!! this would be awesome….

Supergroups are so boring. No desire, rarely great chemistry, rarely good songs. Cream, the Wilburys, Electronic, Temple of the Dog, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Two Tongues, Probot being the only ones I can think of that I enjoy among dozens I found completley boring and disappointing. Audioslave, Dead Winter, Chickenfoot, Velvet Revolved, TCV, Heaven and Hell, Angels & Airwaves, Zwan, The Firm, Gogmagog, et. al.

They just don't make interesting music usually.

Like the work of Page and Clapton.
Don't care much for aerosmith, however would be interesting to see what such a combo would come up with.

Hard blues rock metal ?
Just trying to imagine what music vein that mix of people would take. :)

It would be a very interesting pairing. I'd really like to see what Page and Clapton could produce together. I doubt they would all stay together for very long, the egos being the problem, but for a period I think it'd be really pretty good.

Cream and the Wilburys do not fall into that category of boring, no chemistry and bad songs. Most of the others I will agree with.

Well there is no way Clapton, Page, Perry and Whitford are going to be on the same stage as a group. Talk about overkill, that sounds more like famous singer or singers working with great guitarist.

I agree. Cream, the Wilburys, Electronic, Temple of the Dog, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Two Tongues, Probot; these are supergroups I think make fantastic music.

While the talent line up is impressive, Superbands really don't interest me much. Even with the most talented group of individual musicians, if the chemistry is not there between them the music is somewhat lacking.

A lot of the time supergroup albums can be a bit flat, but oft times those same groups can put on a great live show. then they evaporate as usually there are too many people trying to drive the bus. they go back to what they really want to do. but there can be some fun while it lasts.

Page/Clapton, think way back wasn't it called "the Immediate All-Stars" or something like that?

I would count Izzy Stradlin's various line-ups as 'supergroups':

Ju Ju Hounds:

Izzy (GN'R) - Vocals/Guitar
Rick Richards (Georgia Satelittes) - Guitar/Slide
Ronnie Wood (Faces/Stones/Byrds etc) - Guitar/Vocals
Marc Ford (Burning Tree/Black Crowes) - Guitar/Vocals
Jimmy Ashurst (Broken Homes/Buckcherry) - Bass
Nicky Hopkins (Stones) - Piano
Ian McLagan (Faces) - Keys/Vocals
Charlie Quintana (Dylan) - Drums

Izzy Stradlin Band:

Izzy
Rick Richards
Ian McLagan
Duff McKagan (GN'R/Neurotic Outsiders/Loaded/Velvet Revolver) - Bass
Taz Bentley - Drums

How to do it right IMO.

CC

I think the "Super Groups" thing is great. Not sure about the "Super" though... I would agree that in some cases ego may mute the effort. For a lot of these guys, it means new life and new direction.

2 cents worth 8)

One example i would use for those who remember is Damn Yankees. the album was over produced and only a few high points, but i saw them live and it was a whole different world, the live shows were awesome. They did it for a while 'til they stopped having fun, then it ended.
