My Les Paul guitar is giving me some fits with the bridge pickup. (Active EMG) I am getting no sound from it; although every now and again I will get a barely audible sound from it but then if slowly fades into silence.

Now I’m no electronics wiz so diagnosing the problem has been a problem for me. First I changed the battery to discover no change…I checked all the wires, that seem to be just fine as well as no loose connections at the solder joints. cant find any visible problem.

Does this sound like a pickup selector switch going/gone bad? Maybe something else?..I would love to be able to diagnose this and fix it (providing it is a simple fix) as opposed to paying a tech big $$$ for something simple.

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated…..Again I am not an electronic minded guy; I do have a multi meter. Is there a way I can check currents and what should they meter at and where?

Cheers
Bill

Sounds like a bad pickup selector switch

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
