That's a tough question and my answer has changed several times over the years. At various times it's been McCartney, Lennon or Harrison. It was probably McCartney and not Lennon that pushed the band into different directions and pushed the envelope of popular music. Still I picked Lennon in the poll because I like a lot of his songs more than those of the others.

The silent one! He was an incredible guitar player and steered away from all the attention.

John was an $@!&#*%, Paul is a tool, Ringo is pretty cool, but George is just number one in my book.

I really dig John Lennon. I get the idea that he was the real foundation of the group. It's hard to explain, since each of them are obviously amazing musicians. People worshipped Lennon. His solo stuff is amazing, too.

McCartney sort of makes me cringe. I've read that he was the ringleader in the recording studio, and that everything had to be done his way. I've even heard that if he didn't like the way someone recorded something, that once the band left he would stay behind and re-record the part to his liking (even re-doing some of poor Ringo's drum tracks!).

I have always liked McCartney the best. I always thought he had more to offer after the Beatles then the others. I liked alot of his work with Wings. I know there can be arguments made for others especially Lennon.
McCartney is my choice and I'm sticking to it.

John Harrison, seriously I couldn't pick my favourite of George and John no more than I could pick a favourite of my two daughters.I know that both were responsible for me becoming a musician and each had different qualities I admired,George for his quiet reverence,John for his sardonic wit and cockiness.I mourned both equally when they died,it was like losing a family member to lose someone that set me on a path that would bring so much joy into my life.Of course the influence of their musicianship goes without saying.

Ringo was the most entertaining.

And the only one I've seen live.
