How long have been using humbuckers as the bridge pickup in strats

The first Strat I ever saw that came from the factory with a bridge bucker was in the mid 80's but people have been making their own HSS Strats for at least a decade before that. I've owned two of them and still have one. I think they're a great idea. Having said that I should add that I have also tried HSH and HH Strats and I don't think they are nearly as useful as HSS.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I like my HSS

but it does not have the growl or power of the other brand with it's p90's,
Maybe someday if I get adventurous might try replacing the DH-1 Humbucking Pickup in the strat with a p90, not sure how that would turn out
