I cant think of a modern song that doesnt have some effect on the guitar. Ok summertime blues and some carl perkins stuff is straight to the amp. Even Berry pushed his amps to drive a little, thats still an effect.

Name a song from the last 10 years that doesnt have any effects on the guitar.

I can't think of any. I believe Angus Young plugs his SGs directly into Marshall stacks, but those amps are certainly overdriven.
