How many of you leave gear at the venue? I guess this would apply to local gigging as there is only so much you can do when you are on the road. Anytime I have gigged locally over a 2 nighter I always take my guitar, mic, pedals and cables between sound check and showtime. At the end of the night I take ALL of my gear home with me and set up again the next night. I always write down my amp and pedal settings after sound check and take note of mic placement on my amp. I don't feel comfortable leaving my amp overnight. I even feel uncomfortable leaving my gear on stage between sets when I go to the can or go get a beer!
What do you guys do?

We never, EVER, leave anything unsupervised, anywhere. It's just too easy for someone to walk off with things even if there is security around. It's just not worth the risk.

At rock band gigs, ours are always 1 set, 1 night, so it is not an issue. Everything goes home that night. My friends in cover bands may leave their PA's up for a 2 or 3 night stand, but nothing else is left.

I typically leave a 1x15 cab and a PA head at my church 24/7, and from Saturday (practice) to Sunday, frequently leave my stage monitor (Super Champ XD) and a couple guitars overnight.

But in general, the less left at a non-church venue the better.

The odd few times we've had a free bar and accomodation elsewhere, I have left gear. In those instances though were usually first in last out. The amp and drums stay onstage, the guitars in the dressing room.

Its a real pain trying to lug your gear across town on the bus when no ones capable of driving.

Lightheartedness aside, its always a worry no matter where your playing on a club level. For the sake of 15 minutes its atleast worth pencil marking settings and taking atleast your head and guitar away.

I bring the gear back to the rehearsal space, no worries that way.

We load it all back up, the only time stuff is left if there is a secured room to lock items up. It only takes a few minutes and stuff goes to a new owner without permission. A band I did some back up gigs for actually forgot one night to put a lock on the trailer hitch; and it all disappeared. Trailer, guitars, Keys, PA, Amp everything and no one had insurance to cover the loss.

That one time I was so thank full I trust no one with my stuff........

Lots of thieves out there. I would NEVER leave my equipment anywhere I was not.

Even after sound check we always make sure at least one person is watching the equipment, we take turns sitting... Not alot of fun, but it beats loosing priceless equipment.

Done it once with everything and it was the worst night of my life. I never enjoyed the party because of the pure worry.

Had to do it recently with my Acoustasonic amp. Wasn't able to pick it up from the promoters house for 2 weeks and it was horrible.

I try never to do it but most of my amps are replaceable. My guitars however will always come with me.

I never leave equipment unsupervised. In fact, my buddy, a former Marine, stands guard during the entire show and all breaks 'til we pack up and leave.
