A question similar to this was just posted on this forum- sometimes doing a search first will answer your question. :)

I'm still trying :) it takes a lot of time and focus that sometimes you lose sight of your guitar skills :)

As long as it's just chords and maybe a few licks, it's as easy as breathing now. It'll come to ya. Time and practice....

Just start off with simple stuff you enjoy, and do it a lot!

Then add a slightly more complex bit - just a little riff or lick - into your simple song. Don't expect to get ir right first time, but keep on practicing... by keeping simple stuff you're comfortable with the tricky bit doesn't seem so onerous - try it again... and again... and again... se, it's getting easietr now, isn't it? ;)

I kinda just stumbled upon this problem.

So far I have picked an easy song, then kinda hummed the lyrics as I play, and now Im to the point I say 'some' of the lyrics but say the chords... for instance, Route 66 in G:
    Well if "G", get a "C" to motor "G"...
Take the "C" its the highway thats the "G"..
    Get your "D" on "C" at "G"

Make sense? Kinda helps me keep the rhythm as I sing... thats my main problem.

How Jack Bruce manages to sing over his complex basslines I will never know :(

In someways I find it even harder to play bass and sing. But as people have said its just a case of practicing and working it into the song and building it up slowly :)

I always admired the singing bass players. Jack Bruce, Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney......

Chords and singing is pretty easy but playing notes that are different then the ones you're singing, that are timed differently then the ones you're singing is damn hard.

Practice Practice Practice. I still can't sing and play bass, but I don't have to play bass much. Start with songs with easy comfortable chord changes. Ten years ago, I couldn't do it. Then after a lot of practice, I could play chords pretty well. Now, I can play a lick or two and add a solo. It takes time and lots of practice, but it will come.
