That or "which guitar should I buy?" or "which pickups are best for me?" or my favorite....."what kind of guitar do I have?" I always thought that was something you found out before you bought a guitar.

Who is your fave guitarist? what do they play?
Jimmy Page did a lot with a tele, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton did lots with strats. All rock/blues players... hmmm (oops! Stevie Ray)
Both can be rock guitars, tele is good for country too.
Got to have at least one of each, as well as Gibsons... Les Paul, 335, sg
mmm yummy!

I honestly don't think I could choose and not hate myself.

As a bassist, I enjoy working with players who use both. There are sounds that both can get that the other can't that are just magic. Though I can say that I generally like the sound of a Strat on rhythm guitar and a Tele on lead. I've yet to get a chance to play in a band with someone with an Esquier, but I love the sound of them.

As someone who dabbles in guitar for songwriting purposes I find that I like the way a Tele plays more, yet a Strat can usually make me sound alot better then am.

They're both amazing instruments, in the end.

Tele, but it's just personal preference. they both have different sounds so i like them both but tele is better for my style of music.
